This will all be gone in 2 weeks...The US portion of the Virus will peak in 3-4 days IMO...gotta remember 95% of the population is asymptomatic or will have very few symptoms...Just like any cold or flu it is weeding out itself and running its course.....

Yes and that is why Trump wants to possibly open up the economy. Two more months of this and there is a 30% project unemployment rate. How long will it take to recover from that? Decades? This virus will change lives. We all will think about things differently and see things differently. We will begin to act differently. And if it does not get better quick, our pocketbooks will certainly be different as well. 

And like you said Dave about the asymptomatic. Given all these people who do get tested positive with no symptoms. We can believe that a much larger proportion of the population does have it then we think. But that maybe a good thing since it is a sign that this virus is not that bad at all. Currently, there are 381,000 cases and 16,000 deaths worldwide. That means the death rate is about 4.2%. But how many people have it that are asymptomatic and because of that have not been tested? The higher that number is, the lower the death rate becomes. 

How many died without even be able to get treatment?

IDK, but some of those deaths would have been certainly avoided.

Italy's death rate being exceedingly high is likely due to:

1) higher median age

2) not all are even being treated and how effectively can shorthanded doctors and nurses handle those that even make it to an Italian hospital?

At some point in time, people in the US are going to ask, "where are the deaths?"

Basically you have 2 strategies.

1.) Mitigation - simply put: this is based on the isolation of older people and hoping for collective herd immunity made by younger who overcame it without substantial problems. It is very risky approach, beacuse the peak of epidemy will challenge public health system beyond belief - and you have detrimental collateral damages (endangered lifes of medical stuff, increased mortality on other diseases etc.).

2) Complete lockdown - it will somehow flatten the curve, this is the scenario applied in my country and in almost all Euroepan countries. Complete lockdown means absolutely NO social life. If this will laste ony 2-3 months, we would be able to go through it..but: the weakness of this approach is that if you release the quarantene (which is quite heavy in my country), the viscious circle might start again...

Difficult dilemmas...(for some of the hot heads here: please be considerate and spare the bitching on my adress that I am totally stupid and you have invented in US another different magical approach which we in Europe are not able to manage...). A lot of toughness will be requested from everybody. Only the new vaccine will break this deadlock.

I was there listening and paying attention...thats why all my companies and businesses are currently "overstocked" in all the PPEs that are in shortage everywhere...after all this subsides, my life will never be the same from a professional point of view, as i have very high up agencies and ministers texting me regularly for supplies where 95% of my competition has been out of stock since early February...and i will note as i have before in another thread, i am not increasing my prices like so many others are...ive frozen my prices and am working personally with the Ontario health department to help in any way i can while keeping my private clients fully stocked as well.

I was there listening to his lecture and taking notes while you were getting your diapers changed...for the past several years I have collaberated with Dr. G on many of his podcasts and live Q&A's on his nutrition facts dot org website...what were you doing to prepare yourself and your country of this new pandemic which was certain to come? Trump was not prez in 2008 nor in 2015, so whats your excuse for being absent when these intellectual minds were warning you about the certain threats to come?

Read about the overestimates but also pay attention to what "flattening the curve" (like Italy ) could do.
