Leaning: New York Knicks -6.5
Wizards has yet to do anything right to win a game and the Knicks is the perfect team for them to get a win. Third home game for the Wizards. The first one against the Nets was pretty close until they ran out of gas in the 4th (lost by 6). The next one against then winless Boston wasn't even a contest though they came back stronger in the second half to keep in within 8. Knicks on the other hand are a mess. Melo called them out after being embarassed by my Cats. The last time the team were called out (by Amare after losing 6 in a row) they went on to win 13 of the next 14 late in November. The team lacks real guard play to utilize to of the better big men in the league and a real leader to lead the team. I'm leaning on the Knicks in this game because I feel that this should somehow be a spark for the team to get a win. Wizards is also the perfect opponent for them (allowing their opponents close to 100points). Knicks haven't played them after the Melo trade but had success against their current lineup. Basing this purely on gut feel as I feel the Knicks are looking to be relevant again.
Charlotte Bobcats +1.5
Hawks will be hella tired tonight (3 OTs with starters logging 40+ minutes and playing the 4th game in 5 nights). Cats always follows up good wins with good performances. If there's a team they play really well (other than the Knicks), it's the Hawks. I also have this feeling that the Hawks will look forward to going home and let up against the Cats with the Bulls game the next day.
Boston Celtics -6.0
Last game of a 4 game road trip for the Pacers catching a Celtics team who'll have 4 days of rest before their next game. You can tell the Celtics won't have the burden of spreading the minutes around. I fancy them here because the Pacers is more of a jump shooting team than taking it strong inside. Adding the edge of a home court advantage, the Celtics being one of the best in defending the perimeter will most likely remain unbeaten at home. Pacers looks like a different team on the road. For one, they don't shoot the ball well and seem to have problem rebounding the ball. You have to be both to beat the Celtics at home. Ray Ray should be available in this match (barely missing a step 20ppg 57% FG% and hitting an unbelievable 61.1% from beyond the arc) and all the more reason to back them.
Denver Nuggets -4.5
I don't know the deal here but the line is, say, 2/3 points lower than I expected. Looks like a sucker bet but I'm biting.
Oklahoma City -8.5
Houston have zero luck on the road and what perfect timing to back the KD and the Thunder after on a quick 0-2 (and playing back at home with no real look ahead game). Houston had success from last season but the seem to be a different team now than they were last year. I guess they are yet to buy into Kevin McHale's style. This would have been a different wager altogether if it were Rick Adelman at the helm. I expect the home team to get back to their winning ways against a struggling Rockets team.
BOL.
