The PBA 2013 Commisioner's Cup Thread was moved to the Website Promotions section of the forum. Instead, I'll be posting a daily thread (whenever there are games) until maybe the Playoffs. You are free to post your plays here given that you have a writeup supporting your play. Here we go:
5pm Game: Global Port +6.0 vs Rain or Shine 180.0 Global Port Batang Pier is a loser of 4 straight after a 2-0 start of the conference. They've surprised teams early on but I guess given the lack of bench depth and scorer outside their starting 5, teams have been able to figure them out. They are 2-4 ATS and 2-4 O/U.
Rain or Shine has yet to step off the gas pedal after a good showing 2 conferences in a row. Despite missing their top gunner, Jeff Chan, they have won close contests after another ending with a 4-1 SU card but covering only 2 games so far.
Global Port will ones again rely heavily on their starting V to even make this a game. Rain or Shine will be themselves with their effective rotation and getting the most out of everyone else. The game zones in on Sol Mercado-Gabe Norwood Matchup. Sol Mercado is 2-8 against his former team since being traded to Meralco in 2011. Global Port is a very young team paired with a nice mix of veterans. The 4 game slide should have huge effect on them but having guys like Sol, Gary and Wille to keep them together, I think we get to see a Batang Pier team clawing their way against RoS. In the end, I don't think they'll be enough for a win but a cover isn't far out there.
Prediction: Global Port 84 - 87 Rain or Shine My Play: Global Port +6 and UNDER 180.0

7pm Game: Alaska +2.0 vs Petron 170.0 Alaska is looking to rebound after a sorry loss to the resurging San Mig Coffee. Both teams stands at 5-1 and will be a battle for the top spot. Petron winning 5 in a row enroute to share the top spot and like Alaska, stands at 4-2 ATS. Alex Cabagnot will be back in the lineup making them even more potent on both ends of the floor. Alaska, meanwhile, will look to erase the bad taste of defeat last wednesday in an attempt to stay on top of the running in this conference. Focus will be on the import as much as the locals. Dozier and Balkman are two imports that fits their team well. Both are having a stellar time with their team and producing as one would expect. I think whoever gets a leg up over the other takes this contest. The locals are in much heat as their import. In two games last conference, Alaska went ahead 2-0 in their matchup against Petron. The first one is off a Calvin Abueva 12-16 debut game and DonDon torching his former team. The second one is off a 21-point deficit that the Aces erased in the final quarter. Petron seem to always play 3 and 1/2 quarters this conference giving up big leads after another. I think they will be suseptible to another breakdown against a heady Alaska charges.
Prediction: Alaska 79 - 77 Petron My Play: Alaska +2.0 and UNDER 170.0
