Hate to see it but he was a shell of his former self anyway. He might never play meaningful minutes for a contender ever again.

He won't, he could've easily called it a career this year because other then the lakers and a couple of teams no one wanted him and he couldn't get more than the min, now that he will be out another year, I can't see any team signing him next year at all

Really sad to see as a big man like him did have so much skill, but this his body just keeps telling him that it is over...truly sad

Which is why you always take the guaranteed contract extension...After tearing his Achillies...The Pelicans offered Cousins a 2 year $40 Million contract. Nope Cousins rejected it...Got $6.5 million last year with GS and tried to bet on himself and $3.5 Million with Fakers this season...Lost out on $30 Million after a significant injury, which big men in NBA don't really recover from...Now will be playing for the league minimum when he comes back.  His for contract extension was 4 years $62 million. Never really made the big $$ in his career.

John Wall is getting bashed for his ridiculous contract that may be the worse in NBA history.. But dude will get $170 Million over the next 4 years and may not even play again.  Take notes Bradley Beal...Sign your extension and you are an injury away..

John Wall has never been bashed for his contract. Washington has been bashed for giving it to him. And it's all done in hindsight - obviously NOW it is a shocking contract. If he didn't get injured and had a career year it would have been justified.

Like in baseball, owners and management will soon learn and all these players getting crazy paydays will end. There is an excellent article on this topic at bettingresource.com, look it up.

In the NBA it wont end because of the amount of players on a team. A star changes the world for an organization and for that reason the NBA (especially with no true hard cap) wont stop throwing out money. In the MLB or NFL where 1 guy cant win you a championship, then you can say that, but in the NBA, they wont stop paying the stars crazy money...

John Wall tore his Achillies while at home..an_roll_laugh..You think he's not getting bashed?..Point is when offered an extension with all that guaranteed money..You take it...Wall could have held out and not sign the extension and gone for a 5 year Super Max instead of a 4 year deal.  He was smart enough to sign the extension.  Beal is in the same position...He can wait for more $$ if he makes all NBA this upcoming season or sign his current extension, which is much less because he did not make all NBA this past season.

John Wall has never been bashed for his contract. Washington has been bashed for giving it to him. And it's all done in hindsight - obviously NOW it is a shocking contract. If he didn't get injured and had a career year it would have been justified.

Never really made the big $$ in his career.

Going into the 2019 season, DeMarcus' career earnings sat just under $80 million (from NBA salary alone). His salary per year at this point topped $18 million. Between June 2018 and June 2019, DeMarcus earned $45 million from salary and endorsements. That was enough to make him one of the highest-paid athletes on the planet.

Highest paid athletesconfused....June 2018 - June 2019...He did not make $45 million.. He has an endorsement deal with Puma...Seriouly NOOONE buys his shoes...He made $6.5 million from GS and maybe $5Million form Puma...where did he make $45 Million.  His career earnings is decent but after taxes and everything...he made nowhere near his earning potential for the type of player he was.  Never got his big mega contract...

Right before Boogie got traded in 2017...Kings were going to offer him the Super Max 5 Year $210 Million.  All down hill since.

The worst hands down, you can argue for KD because of the potential and the stage where it happened, but Boogie's got it though. He was probably the best center in the league before the torn Achilles, and since then every time he came back he injured himself in a different way.

It takes some time to regain confidence in your body after an injury, I can't imagine how it feels to have this devastating sequence.

Not sure how true it was but I remember some people claiming Kobes Achilles injury had at least some part in his shoulder injury saying it caused an imbalance that put a strain on the rest of his body
