Growing up it was my favorite sport. I grew up in Seattle, so Payton - Kemp Sonics were amazing to watch/follow. Gary Payton would have to be strapped to a medical bed to miss a game. Karl Malone never missed a game, these guys took actual pride in playing hard every single night. Somewhere along the way it took a turn for the worst. That’s why football is above and beyond the best product now. Through the test of time the game and product stays relatively the same. NBA and mlb have gone off the rails. Guys who hit .210 and strike out 30% of the time are considered good in baseball now. The nerds who never played a lick of athletics in their lives have ruined sports.
