4. Knicks confidence
Knicks have won 5 games. One was against a good team. They beat the Cavs away and then came home with almost the exact same line as this one. They covered the 6 pt lne by 3 vs. the Cavs.
They didn't beat Dallas away but again, the confidence factor applies. They now think they can hang with Dallas (they can't but confidence and fooling yourself are big in the NBA on a nightly basis), and now they come home with a line of 7. It's a very similar spot.
5. Knicks vs. the spread.
Covered 5 of 7 despite losing 6 of 7. 4 of those 6 had spreads within the 6 to 7 range, just like this one. It's a good number here for the Knicks.
6. Unknowns
Will Parsons play? No one knows because there is no shootaround for the Mavs today. It's a GOOD thing if he doesn't play, believe me.
Will JR play? Probably not and I can't even say whether that is good or bad. Hardaway has been having some very big games in his and Melo's absence so we expect him to make up for it.
Remember the Knicks lost by 7 at the Mavs in OT without Melo. Melo is desperately needed by the Knicks and the player out/other players step up rule usually doesn't apply to a team this bad (as even the Spurs C team beat them by 20).
Will Felton suddenly play for the Mavs? God he'd LOVE to get on the court in this game.
Fun Fact: Melo had a sneaker release party yesterday and may step up tonight to sell more shoes (BeginnerBoy posted an article about "Melo the businessman" and believe me, he cares more about the shoes than the sport, but if the sport can sell shoes!!?? More power to him!)
Another Fun Fact: Mavs only beat the Knicks by 2 on their home court last year on a Dirk brick that fell in. For some reason, the Knicks played very well against them last year while getting the door blown off of them by other big time western conference teams like the Warriors and Spurs and OKC.
I don't want to pick the Knicks continuously and I'm taking a break but given the above, I'm going to lean Knicks. Don't bust me on not making an official pick. I'm taking a small break but wanted to provide my insights.
Line is at 7.5 now and might get to 8 if you wait as the public pounds them but I'm going to grab the points here.
Take a look at Chandler and Calderon over props too if he numbers are around their averages!
