The Golden State Warriors play host to the Miami Heat at Oracle Arena on Thursday. The Heat (2-3) have gotten off to a rough start this season, but they were unbelievable on Wednesday. They went on the road and handed the 4-0 Portland Trail Blazers a 119-98 beatdown. They led by 26 points at times in that masterclass, shooting over 50 percent from the field. All five starters scored at least 14 points in that victory, while Max Strus provided 16 points and nine rebounds off the bench. If all six main pieces are playing at that level, this team should return to the form that made them the top-seeded team in the east last year. With that said, this does mark a back-to-back for Miami, so it remains to be seen if all of these veterans suit up in this spot. The Warriors (2-2) looked incredible in their opener but have dropped two of three since then. They were manhandled by the Phoenix Suns in their most recent outing, losing 134-105 on Tuesday. Klay Thompson had just two points before being ejected in that game, and it's been an uphill battle for the former All-Star. Stephen Curry is actually one of the only players playing well on this roster right now, scoring at least 30 points in all but one game. That's why no one is panicking about the 2021 champs because they can get rolling at any time. One thing they need to improve quickly is their defense, though, allowing nearly 120 points per game. These teams played twice last season, with Golden State sweeping the season series.
