We all know what happened in the regular season means nothing in the playoffs but people keep forgetting the Warriors started the playoffs 2 weeks before anybody else chasing 73. OKC will be the fresher squad in the series. Take a look at the Warriors defense last round as opposed to the Thunder's defense.
OKC can hang with anybody but Golden State has tons of pressure on them to win this series - more than any team has had in years. 73 win team not getting to the finals ? OKC is playing with house money, they thrive in the underdog role and the best thing going for them this playoffs is they aren't the favorite. All the talk was for San Antonio vs Golden State, but OKC will knock both teams out.
Think of what OKC's record would have been bar those 4th quarter collapses in the regular season which have now disappeared in the playoffs. You won't see the same Golden State team through a full 7 game series this round. Warriors home mystique is gone, last month of the season they lost at home to the Celtics, to the Timberwolves, and just escaped with a 4 point victory against the Blazers in a close out game.
OKC held a double digit lead in all 3 games against the Warriors this season, something no other team has done. OKC averaged +14 in rebounds against GS this year, something no other team has done. OKC has obviously gotten better in the playoffs than how they played in the regular season but has Golden State gotten better? A case could be made they actually got worse. Chasing 73 tired them, pressure is on them, defense has regressed, few injuries here and there - while the Thunder are rested, hungry, healthy, doubted, and playing their best ball of the year.
Get ready for KD vs Lebron II.
