the hawks are 1-4 in their last 5, including 2 loses to orlando (1 of them by 7 in atlanta) and then got rocked by the hoe a.ss bucks by 7 this time also in atlanta. their defense is loose right now, and i think the organization is in disarray. they have a few pieces that could potentially leave next summer so the trade deadline really threw them off their step.
All they need is one big win to turn the season around. They're going to make the playoffs and possibly have home court in the 1st round. Far from disarray. It's called a skid.
Let's look at the last 5 games.
-They lost at Orlando by 2.
-Lost home to Orlando again in OT.
-Won by 23 in Chicago.
-Came back from break and lost at home to Miami.
-Lost the next night at home in OT.
It's really not that bad of a streak if you actually look at each individual game instead of just saying they're 1-4 in their last 5.
Laying 7 is just bad value when the Hawks haven't been more than 7.5 point dogs all season, regardless of home or away.
Warriors have also failed to cover in four straight games, the last 3 being road favorites. It's very very risky to try to lay the points again on the road.

Hawks haven't been underdogs by more than 7.5 all season and now are 7 point dogs at home. I'm pounding the Hawks. Good luck being against Vegas and laying more than 2 baskets in a game with 0 motivation. Good luck to those on GS, though.
I respect you Shango, but this is an absurd statement. We're talking about a historically great team going for 73 wins, so motivation will not be an issue. Plus, Warriors are going for win #50. That's a special number. It's not win 47 or 48 or 49, but 50. Hawks better be prepared or they'll get blown out (imo)!

0 Motivation? Last check they're only 5 games or so up on the Spurs, and while it's unlikely Spurs will catch them, why would they lack motivaitaion as its not like this is a double digit lead for first in the conference... Plus they are going after a historical record?
BB what you think of the over for this game?

Nope. Far from "trash." They also beat the Warriors in Atlanta last year. There is no value laying 7 tomorrow with the Warriors.
That game you are referencing was beyond shady. Warriors were in a bad spot (in terms of travel road, home, road, home, road) and then they got jobbed by the refs (37 free throws for the Hawks) and still were in the game late. And that was a much better Hawks team than this one.

I never bet over/unders so don't have an opinion. I also quit gambling, but if I was betting this game I wouldn't take the Hawks. Shango is right that the line is inflated, so I'd probably tease it down to 3 on 5 dimes and wait until another opportunity presented itself to close the tease.

how many months ago? because they also squandered a 12 pt lead against the magic and lost that game at home very recently -- on top of several other revealing indiscretions in the last several games.

Almost exactly what I was thinking and going to say in response to the statement about Atlanta not being more than 7.5 point dogs all season.... We are talking GS here (not the Cavs or Clippers) GS can win by 12+ on any given night to any given team..... The further that we get to the end of the season/closing in on the record, the harder GS is gonna play and the more they'll want it..

Atlanta may cover but most definitely not winning SU... I'm going big on GS ML they will come out even more fired up than they did against the Clippers.....

Lol... What? That is an AWFUL streak. Convenient that you fail to mention the team they lost to in OT was Milwaukee. Beat a Bulls team that is a shell of what they were, without Butler and other key guys. Chicago is easily performing near the bottom of the league the past couple of weeks.
ATL is not even near what they were last season... and last season, it was EASY to see they were completely fraudulent. They are HELPLESS come playoff time, and can be beaten by ANYONE in the league when their jump shots aren't falling.

You can also spin it the other way though. Hawks played really bad in those ot loses but still made it to ot. They have had a bad streak and papa shango summer that up perfectly. To think that is the Atlanta Hawks identity would be a recipe for bank loan as you would only ever lose in the long run. Hawks are a good team, will end most likely end up with a top 4 seed in the east contrary to what their last five games have been like.
They are an offensive threat with the players they have and when fully healthy have a good enough bench to help with their scoring. They are a smal team though so tomorrow's matchup could benefit as GSW without Bogut and Ezeli play Draymond at centre. Al is a good player to stretch Draymonds defense. Matchup wise it isn't so bad for Hawks if Teague plays. Warriors 3rd game in 4 nights. Does this mean Hawks will cover? Not necessarily. It would be stupid to think that Warriors can't blow out anyone at anytime. However, it is far from a lock and I have seen a lot worse situations for a team to come up against Warriors.
