Huge Hawks fan here. I watch every game and feel like I have a great read on this team. The Hawks are one of the hottest teams in the league right now and I feel like they continue this play tonight.
A few reasons:
-The Cavs are young and undisciplined. The Hawks fest on teams like this. Look for the Hawks to score over 100 for the 7th game in a row tonight.
-The Hawks bad road record is overstated. The Hawks are 4-9 on the road this year. These losses were to Dallas, Houston, Denver, LAL, Miami x2, SAS, NYK, Wash.
The bad losses out of this group are the NYK and Wash. Melo has always given us fits and he has been successful against us twice this year. Washington was the 4th game in 5 nights and the 8th game in 12 days. The LAL, Den, SAS, Mia losses were all by 2 points each so ATL has actually played pretty well on the road this year despite a bad road record.
-The Cavs have given up 100+ in 6 straight games. This lack of defense doesn't bode well when facing one of the top offenses in the league. This is no longer the Iso-Hawks of the Joe Johnson and Josh Smith era. This squad leads the league in assists per game and makes teams rotate or face the consequences. The Cavs struggled to rotate in the first game which led to 50 points in the paint and 108 total points despite struggling from 3 pt and FT.
