After they went up six points with that slam dunk and a timeout right after, my book offered me an option to cash out for $500. In a stage of panic, I ended up accepting and lost $1,000 of my original bet. We all know that they ended up winning, but was it the right thing to do at the time? I mean Atlanta was up six at that point, the crowd was absolutely erupting, Atlanta had all of the momentum and there wasn't much time left in the game.

Well if that was your last $500 available and you had a surefire lock you wanted to bet immediately, then you really had no choice but to make this move, but in the long run bad strategy.
But we don't play for long runs, every game is life or death

I didn't watch the game, so I don't know at which point in the game you're talking about. Like how much time was left. I assume the Heat had the ball.
Let me give you a hint though. As someone who has played on the apps a while and checked my cashouts constantly. If the cashout feels generous when you're barely winning, it's more than likely a winner (like your cashout is your stake + 40-50% when you're winning but losing is still very possible). If the cashout feels crappy when you're winning, then don't get too comfortable. A crappy cashout is like your stake +10% when you've got a decent lead.
If you're losing and it looks pretty bad and the cashout seems generous, then have faith. I've noticed that when a cashout seems generous when it feels like it's over, that team doesn't always win, but they usually make it interesting. And if a team makes it interesting, then your cashout will probably get better.
I assume it was pretty late in the game and down 6. If it looked horrible and the cashout was 33%, that's pretty generous.
I'll tell you when it's over over and you're going to lose, your cashout is around 10% . I actually used to take those pretty often.
Next time you decide if you want to take a cashout, decide if it's generous or not. Most of the time when a cashout is worth taking, you still have a pretty decent chance of winning. When it's over and your cashout is so crappy that you might as well keep it, is when you shouldn't.

Nah…I had a parlay that Heat were last leg. At that exact point in the 4th qtr your talking about the cash out was close to even $ and I just bought out…i broke even but missed on nice profit. So they got me too…

Teams with that momentum usually hold on to win like Knicks yesterday but ATL is not the Knicks and I'm not cashing out for a loss. I would have waited and at least hedged to get my initial wager back. Don't gamble what you can't afford to lose. That solves that problem

Look man.. if you’re gonna bet that kind of money and be scared to lose it then gambling isn’t for you. It’s only strategic to cash out if you’re in the profit and you feel it’s not worth sweating out the outcome. However cashing out of a max bet because it sounds like this was a max bet for a 70 percent loss is not the way to gamble. It’s either you roll with the punches or you don’t.

You have plenty of opportunity to cash out early but you did not ... I know it is scary but you should not buy out like that. I understand the fear but you should not.
When I go to the Casino, I never buy insurance when the house show an ACE or surrender when the house show a 9/10 and I have less than them.
