If only all corps and institutions could be treated like the NBA

Lets start with this: Donald Sterling is the longest tenured owner in the NBA. He bought the Clippers 33 years ago for 12.5 Million and the franchise is worth approx. 575 Million dollars today.

At the end of the day he is basically the head of a company that has increased tremendously in value (not due to anything special he has done, but due to the growth of the NBA cumulatively). People think he will be stripped of his ownership , or forced to sell. Most of this is due to the media frenzy, (even though people have known Donald Sterling to be like this for quite a while).

But my question is: Why should this situation deserve so much air time, and media attention. There are so many corporations that have done way more repulsive things, and STILL DO to this very day!

I understand why it does, but this still really bothers me. I am not trying to sound unsympathetic to the clippers players/coaching staff (or anybody that works in the NBA). But the media is making this such a huge deal when there are such worse examples of discrimination that are going on.

You can say its hypocritical because i'm only fueling to the attention by starting this thread, but it just really bothers me and I would like to hear others thoughts, and if they agree.

Yes. Currently listening to Stephen A ranting on first take (about to change the channel he is giving me a headache). He is saying that the penalties should be implemented today.

He just runs his mouth way to much sometimes, especially when it comes to race.

Does he not understand that the NBA is a large corp and Adam Silver is a lawyer. How can a private phone call exposed result in somebody telling him he has to give up his company.If the owners cumulatively push something, the process will speed up.

But people forget the NBA is a company. CEO's can't be forced by law to give up their company due to making moderately racist remarks.

Although I think he should sell while he can.

He can talk all the trash he wants but as long as he is employing blacks and other minorities they shouldn't be complaining.

Other minorities keep mouth shut and quietly build their community and clout. Not sure why blacks don't do this. This complaining stuff just takes them backwards.

Good point. Whats crazy about it is dude has always felt that way. Those are his personal feelings. It only became public because a SMUT set him up. I dont agree with his personal feelings but that is just what they are, personal. If DOC or any of the players can show that have been discriminated against then thats a different story. All the players are getting paid what they are worth, hell some maybe more.

I was born and bred in the hood, so Im familiar with racism on both sides. People are entitled to their personal feelings, regardless if we dont like them.

Whats funny also is how the activist are trying to rally people. I would love to see these activist go into the hoods and rally the people about these young animals killing each other, you know something that is really killing people. At the end of the day, Sterling is like 80 something, Old school, Old money, plain and simple. The way he is has never been a secret, now everyone is acting so shocked. Too funny.

In terms of a an institution: The US Court System most prominently. (This whole affluenza fiasco as a recent example.) Which creates a domino effect that creates discrimination down the line. as for Corporations, of course there have been things such as the remarks made by the owner of Abercrombie and Fitch about who he wanted wearing his clothing or Walmart with the gender discrimination. I was more pointing to the big picture rather then just race (which is one of many issues).

It is amazing thaat his private conversations are being used.

It is amazing that he said things to his girlfriend saying she could FCK anyone or do anything in private but dont put it on instagram . ha !

He said some despicable things , personal preferences that he didnt want her to bring blacks to his games.

It is funny that she is mixed(black/mex) and he wanted her to appear as exotic asian. meanwhile, he has aversion to blacks mixing into his culture. (enemy cultures)

But , he also chides her to not look at a person's skin color and confirms that Magic Johnson deserves respect.

players on this team, I would NOT want to play for a jerk like this.

it definitely puts the players ( and coach) in a very ,very ,very bad position.
