The reality is most gamblers are indeed losing in the long run and are indeed deluded into thinking they can win a lot by gambling and only a very small percentage do win in the long run but still a gambler who has been winning in the long run can himself start to lose and lose everything that has been gained and start to see losses like most gamblers.

It's a risky hobby indeed. IMHO you really can't make serious money by gambling but you can make something if you got what it takes. For me gambling is just entertainment where you can make some money but not a whole lot, you are better off with your steady job that pays you guaranteed money because in gambling the money is not guaranteed it is more of a guarantee that you will be one of the countless millions that lose money in the long run.

To help you try to win in the long run it takes a nice size bankroll first, then a system or systems ( plan or plans) and lastly absolute discipline. ( which includes absolute avoidance of parlays & all the other sucker bets)

Can't get rich gambling, gotta work...........Nice post.  If you see it as making a little here and there, paying some bills or buying some nice things if you win, then you will be okay.  In the long run, everyone loses though, or makes little money (risk x time x stress= not enough money won), not worth it. This is why you shouldn't bet a alot.

ALL THESE ARE VALID POINTS BUT THERES NO WORSE FEELING THAN THINKING YOU HAVE A SURE WIN AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN TEAMS STOP SCORING OR SOMETHING UTTERLY OBSCENE OCCURS. THE LAST BET O/U COLLEGE FOOTBALLBET I MADE WAS ON THE OVER I TOOK LAST SEASON WAS TEXAS AT MISSOURI OU WHICH WAS 51. I HAD ABOUT A GRAND ON THE GAME. IT WAS 38-7 AT THE HALF AND TEXAS SCORED ON ALL BUT ONE POSSESISON DURING THAT TIME. THEN THE SECOND HALF CAME AND NEITHER COULD GET A FIRST DOWN LET ALONE MOVE THE BALL! TEXAS KICKED TWO FIELD GOALS AND THE FINAL SCORE WAS 41-7.  

Also I would like to add that I know a lot of gamblers cry about games being fixed and that's why they lose but that is really a very poor excuse. Even if games weren't fixed it wouldn't mean that most gamblers would become winners in the long run...lol

The LAW OF AVERAGES is really the culprit why most gamblers will lose in the long run because you have a 50/50 chance of winning any matchup it makes logical mathematical sense in the long run after numerous wagers that your winning pct. will be near 50%. If you can't maintain a winning pct. above 53% and you always gamble flat or a fixed amount you will lose. The only way you can overcome this and win if you are below 53% is that you have to be a prog bettor (progressive bettor) which is a bettor that doesn't always keep his wagers the same fixed amount thruout their gambling history but to be a prog bettor you have understand that you have to start wagering at a very low level and most gamblers aren't willing to do that because they want their money fast and so they wager large and most will suffer the disappointment of losing money fast.

In regards to nba, the other night i had port. under, their up 22 with 16 seconds left, both teams keep on scoring and the game goes over. bullshit!
