Reminds me of the Theisman injury, don&#x27;t know how hell ever be able to walk properly again, much less play ball. Guess he shouldn&#x27;t have pissed off the basketball gods and stayed in Utah.

PG came back more gruesome looking injury but heywards injury seems like more lower part of leg. which can be more complex.hoping for speedy and full recovery.

Knee and ankle dislocations are always very tricky.

At first they said it was just a broken ankle, which actually wouldn't have been too bad. A possible return for the playoffs wouldn't have been out of the question in that situation.

But the dislocation combined with the broken tibia will require a longer and more specialized rehabilitation. Don't think his career is in jeopardy, but a return this season is most likely out of the equation. Who knows with these elite athletes though.

Lower leg injuries can be devastating due to decreased blood flow in the region and of course being major weight bearers. No telling how this combo injury might play out medium to long term.

Blame the NBA for starting the season 2 weeks early, it&#x27;s clear the players were not ready to play and the NBA foolishly went for a cash grab that ruined any chance of a competitive rivalry.

As mentioned before, lower leg injuries are real tough to come back from. Being Hayward is only 27 though, thinking he bounces back faster than most think. This year is done for him but he should come back strong next year. Career not over, just the 17-18 season is over

Shaun Livingston or Paul George are there playing after terrible injuries.Hayward will be back, but hard to see him being all-star calibre player again.

I&#x27;m not sure about this injury.. it looked terrible.  But sometimes injuries look much worse being an external injury.  It may actually be better than he broke it, rather than have ligament damage (of which there is none).  Bones heal quite fast, naturally and easily.  Soft Tissue injuries are much more difficult to manage.  An ACL would be 12 months out.  A broken ankle is probably 4 - 5 months out.  I&#x27;m confident that he will make a full recovery and may even play play offs.  The injury will absolutely be healed within 4 - 5 months, but the only thing that could hold him back is lack of fitness and game time.  This is the part that takes more time for players to get back.

By the way...Theisman was in 1985, and he was 36 years old when he retired.  We are talking about a guy who is nearly 10 years younger and over 30 years of medical advancements.  With Boston spending 128 million dollars on Gordon Hayward, he will be no doubt getting the best recovery and rehabilitation in the world.  Probably some German or Dutch doctor with revolutionary treatments.  Theisman&#x27;s leg grew too short after the bone fused back.  There is no chance of something like this happening to Hayward as he will have doctors on him around the clock for the next 6 months monitoring everything.
