Great acting job by Spo, Jimmy and Harlem the other night. Academy award type stuff! I suspected it, and now it’s confirmed.
It’s the smart move, snd Pat Riley is a smart man.

That makes no sense to give up home court (2nd and 3rd round) just to not face the Nets and then could possibly end up somehow facing them anyway. How does that benefit them?

Had Miami ml along with kanas and Minny ml that L def hurt I don't think their tanking think they'll be better once Vic and Hero are back at least depth wise

They would have home court against Brooklyn in later rounds because of their superior record. They just have to avoid them in round one. They have a much better matchup against the Cavs, Raptors or Celtics in round one. Brooklyn might lose to the Bucks or Sixers in round one or have an injury before Miami has to think about facing them.

@begginerboy
Its still a lose lose imo because like you said they may have to face Nets anyway in the later rounds and if either Philly or Mil knock the Nets out, they would now hold home court and those places will be rocking

To be honest I think Nets will take the 7th seed anyway they would probably be better off trying for 1st if Miami thinks the Nets are that great

I don't think it's a better matchup against the Celtics. The Celtics are the best team in the NBA right now.

"Look fellows, we have to tank tonight, on our home court, give up the #1 seed, why? because we don't want to play the Nets!"
How does an entire NBA team 'tank' tell me (does it come directly from Pat Riley) explain the process..
A NBA HC goes out and tells a #1 seed team to lose the game, based solely on the fact of who the opponent is in the Playoffs...give it a fuckin' break
the NYN simply kicked the Heats azz last night, Butler put in 30pts, was he tanking????

.........if anything Brooklyn was tanking for the 8 seed so they could have kyrie play in the road game.....
But now that doesn't matter as he can play at home as well

Wake up and smell the tank!

It’s strategy… not hard to believe in my opinion. Teams have done this in the past.
If you’re the shot caller, you want to give your team the best odds at accomplishing the goal that’s all.

This thread makes ZERO sense... Instead of playing them in Round 1, they will just play them in round 2... They would need to fall to the 4th seed to avoid the Nets until the Conference Finals.. But the Nets are only 3 games behind the Cavs/Raps for the 6th seed.. But imagine thinking teams "tank" to avoid teams... Good lord the media easily manipulates fans.. If i had to pick a top 4 team to lose in round 1, it would be Miami regardless of their seed

You must be 12 years old. Lol. You don’t know history. You don’t know s h I t. The Nets themselves tanked under J Kidd many years ago in order to play Miami and the big 3 in the second round. Kidd had a good team, but they were old, so he thought the best shot they had was to play the Heat in the second round. It all backfired because they ended up drawing a tough Raptors team that knew the Nets tanked to play them in the first round. Series went 7 and Nets won, but they were drained and lost to Miami in 6, I believe. Look it up. Read. Learn from history. Teams tank all the time for playoff seeding. Don’t live in ignorance.

@Nedtan
The entire conversation right now on NBA TV is about the top teams in the East trying to avoid the Nets in the first round. They are openly talking about teams losing on purpose to avoid the Nets. The NBA loves this storyline! People are kidding themselves if they don’t see all the drama and viewers this will generate before the playoffs even start not to mention all the gambling partners of the NBA who stand to benefit as casual fans try to predict which team tanks when.
