Guys -  this will be long so ignore my grammar... Do we not remember 2015 Finals?  Instead of listening to all the theories and scripts I wanted to delve into last years finals and relate it to the 2016 playoffs...  Listening to the National Media I continue to hear the obvious... Cleveland is healthy... Cleveland had no competition in the East... But what does that really mean for this series? 

Wulp I wanted to go back and break down the stats of last years finals and try to relate it to literally an entirely different matchup in 2016... I am here to tell you that you CAN NOT compare the  2015 Finals Matchup or any previous Cavs/GSW Matchup in 2016... Here is why as we break down last years finals

2015 Lineups and Rotations - getting into game 2 - 6 will tell the story...

Game 1
Cav's pushed Kyrie and tried to play him and it did not work out... Cleveland rolled out James Jones for 17 minutes and was a complete dud

Game 2
Cleveland Literally sends out Delladova, Mozgov, and Shumpert while also give Mike Miller and James Jones almost 29 minutes

Game 3
Mike Miller and Jones combine for 16 minutes and Cleveland Starts Shumpert and Mozgov while letting Delladova play almost 38 minutes

Game 4
Cleveland Once again sends out James jones for 18 minutes who goes 0 - 3... Continues to start and extend the minutes of Delly Mozgov and Shumpert

Game 5
Mike Miller and James Jones Combine for 30 minutes.. Delladova plays 36... Delladova, JR, James, Jones combine go 8 - 26

Game 6
James Jones plays 27 minutes...
Delladova, Shumpert, Smith, and Jones combine or 7 - 29 shooting

Ladies and Gentleman, in 2015, that was Clevelands Supporting cast to go with Lebron James... You literally had Lebron James playing one on one basketball with zero support because Shumpert and Delladova were gassed chasing around Thompson and Curry...  Yes Cleveland is healthy this year... But what does this truly mean and how will this affect the 2016 Seriers?

First - lets state the obvious... Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving are liabilities on Defense...  I have been hearing the media pound this notion for the last 48 hours... But, isnt James Jones and Mike Miller a liability?  Isnt Mathew Delladova and Iman Shumpert a liability docking 35 + minutes chasing around the Splash brothers?   Either way the splash brothers are going to get their 55 - 60... This has NOT changed since since 2015... What has changed is depth... What has changed. on defense, is for 15 - 20 minutes a game Steph and Klay are going to have to work much harder because you are going to get a fresh Delladova and Shumpert?  By no means am I saying Mathew Delladova is going to stop the MVP... What I am saying is these guys are going to make the Splash brothers work  A LOT harder than 2015... They are there for the defense not to hoist up 26 shots on the other side....

Now on offense - this is an absolute Joke to compare 2015 to 2016... Ladies and Gentleman the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2016 playoffs are shooting 47.5 percent with 14.4 threes made a game... Compared to 2015 with 42 percent and 9.8 made... With Vegas lines of 6 or less this is enormous... Do you know that the Cleveland Cavaliers right now (the playoffs) are making more threes per game and are more efficient than the Warriors were in their 24 - 0 start?  Do you know the Cleveland Cavaliers right now are putting on a top 2 efficient performance in NBA History?  But guys - the Cavs are playing in the East!  GTFOH - the cavs are doing it against playoff intensity... Last time I checked outside of the OKC series the Warriors first two opponents were probably worse than the cavs first 2 playoff opponents... There is this public perception that the East is way worse than the West... Lets be real - there were 4 or maybe 5 teams in the NBA that are worthy... outside of that making and East vs West comparison is pure garbage...  Oh and lets not forget Oklahoma City beat Oklahoma City... yes thats not a typo GSW did not beat OKC - OKC beat themselves... How gassed are the Warriors?

What does all this mean?  Who is going to hoist the trophy?

Any of you calling for a Warriors sweep needs your fricken head examined... This is going to be fun basketball... Obviously Steph wants to prove he is the MVP... and bron wants to prove he is still the greatest... Yes, there are those conspiracies?  Believeland came out... Cleveland needs a championship... Everyone outside of GSW is pulling for the Cleveland parade... But its simple, this series comes down to one guy!  And hes not wearing Nike or Under Armour shoes... His name is Tryon Lue - if Tryon Lue sticks to is rotations - if he realizes K Love might not play 20 minutes if hes having an off night because using a fresh Shumpert or Delladova to defend the Pick N Roll might be more important... If he uses Channing Frye the correct way to replace those 17 - 20 minutes James Jones and Mike Miller were getting last year the correct way!!! (oh by the way Channing Frye shooting stats are epic right now - even better than Curry and Thomspson statisctically)... If Ty Lue makes the correct moves I firmly believe this Cleveland "TEAM" will in fact get its first Championship since 1964...  Hope you guys enjoyed the long write up - going to be fun... any comments welcome... First you knock on James' supporting cast being basically shumpert / delladova in 2015... then in your next breath say how important these two guys will be in 2016?  OKC beat themselves? Just another hater refusing to give GSW credit after ALL they've done.  GSW gassed?  Weren't they supposed to be gassed in game 6?  Then again in game 7?  How'd that work out?  

Here's a hint - if you're most important change from 2015 to 2016 is TYRON LUE, you've got problems.  You are calling for Love to play less than 20 mins a game with Delly/Shump in his place for the D?  Big red flag when your supposed superstar PF can't even play because he's such a defensive liability.  Same will go for your starting PG, Kyrie.  So you're basically back to your 2015 lineup, for defensive purposes... delly/JR/Shump/Lebron/Thompson. You're taking that lineup vs the warriors?  Frye... yea he is shooting well, but that's against cupcake competition.  This is the Finals.  GSW are locked in.  Frye isn't going to just get wide open 3's all game like the previous rounds.  And he is going to look old and slow on D.  Sounds like you're trying to convince yourself more than actual confidence in your analysis.

Fact is Cavs have more pieces this year, but only 5 of them can be on the court at any one time.  You can't go offense / defense with Kyrie/Love EVERY possession.  But, the warriors have good (or excellent) two-way players at nearly every position, except at center when Bogut is playing.  Cav's D is going to be exposed.  Kyrie and Love are going to be such liabilities Lue will have to break his normal rotations.  You saw what Splash Bros did to Ibaka/Adams game 7?  Now imagine the less quick / long / athletic Love/Frye trying to close out on those high pick and rolls?  Cavs were LAST in pick in roll defense this playoffs.  Where do you think Warriors were in running pick and roll offense?  It wasn't last... This is going to get ugly real fast.

I fully respect your opinion... i think your putting a lot of words in my mouth though... i said its a different delladova and shumpert... not playing 38 mins expected to score and play def... like 2015...

I provided numerous reasons on changes that will be important... also - your sentiments above is exactly what the media and everyone is saying... I never said to play love less than 20 mins a game... i said there MIGHT be a time Lue needs to go that route...

also if you dont think fryes getting wide open looks please break down how gsw will do this?  provide your defensive principles of how this happens with the 5 guys on the floor

Again - i respect your opinion... its a make or miss league and thats what this series comes down too... to simply provide past history with this series to say its going to get ugly I think is wrong...  that was the point of the write up

Cleveland is the best team in the East; why??. Because teams in the east are garbage and this freaking league wants LeBron Queen in the final so they can make more cash. But compare with GS, Cleveland is garbage also. GS learned their lesson with the Thunders and everyone said that Cleveland is all healthy this year and blah, blah and blah. It will make no different this year. GS will win in 6 again this year. Who is the idiot that come up with the name "king" anyway???. Lebron Queen will find a new home this summer.

Okc did beat themselves. They had wide open shots all over the place evergame and we're well ahead every game late 3rd or 4th quarter except game 2.

I'm will admit I am a cavs fan so take what I say with a grain of salt.
Here is the difference. Durant and westbrook (kyrie and lebron) got wherever whenever they wanted to go on the court. People pressed up to help. Okc had WIDE open shots all the time every game of the series. The difference is the cavs are a better shooting TEAM than even the Warriors and much better than the thunder. Plus the cavs still have the best player in the world....and he is not a defensively liability like curry.

Anytime a coach might be forced to sit his 'superstar' in favor of a defensive role player, it's a red flag. Lue might have to consider benching TWO superstars in favor of defensive role players. Kerr is not benching Green/Iggy come crunch time.

Frye isn't going to get open looks because GSW won't be forced to double; Klay can stick with Kyrie and Iggy/barnes can (sort of) stick with Lebron...  And GSW will close our hard on all 3-pt shooters to force Cavs into the paint.

This series / game is going to come down to can the Cavs play D vs a locked in Warriors team.  I just don't see how with Love/Kyrie on the court.  And with them off the court Cavs can't keep on offensively.

To me every match up except Lebron favors the warriors and any adjustments Lue can make are easily countered by Kerr.

Can't wait to see this game tomorrow!

Not sure if I would put my money on Tyron Lue vs. Steve Kerr, I can see the Cavs stealing game 1 because of prep time and gas in the tank, but like the the OKC series I think steve kerr ultimately wins the chess match between coaches. 

Lebron won't choke as hard as Durant or Westbrook, but he has been acting as a facilitator to the offense more often than the being the offense himself. If kyrie and love can keep their composure after a tough game 1 or 2, i might take the cavs series for a better price down 0-2.

I think so much attention will be paid to the spread, the total offers good value, UNDER at roaracle arena, OVER in believeland

GS is the far better team! Nobody can beat them in a 7 game series! It's never happened!

2 things.

Draymond Green will absolutely OWN Kevin Love the entire series.

Steve Kerr will steal Tyron Lue's lunch money from a coaching stand point.

Lebron over Iguadala obviously.   Kyrie vs Klay is a wash.

That leaves Curry to do his thing.

Remaining roster advantage Warriors + home court.

Warriors in 6 with 2 GS blowouts.

Not a bad write up. But still I look at the Cavs losing two to Toronto. I look at how deep Golden State is, how they are psychologically way up after digging out of being down 3 games to 1. 

I think the series is capped about right

#1 defense vs 3 vs who?  Vs what sample size?  All that gets thrown out the window when u have to sag and double vs the most atheltic freight train in nba history... and dont give me the bs that they will let lebron get his... in 2015 it worked because of the supporting cast

If it comes down to 'one guy' as you say, and that one guy is Tyronn Lue, that is a weakness, and a more than prominent one. I don't want a single dime of my money in the coaching hands of Tyronn Lue. Hence, I would have expected you to end your post by picking the Warriors to win the series, not the Cavs!

You have more than your gut here Roggs. You have a good write-up! It's just that Tyronn Lue is a neophyte to begin with and now he is in the NBA Finals. He hasn't even coached a full NBA season and now he must help guide the greatest player in the world (with Curry?) to a Championship with proper rotations. But we also know that Lebron is the de facto head coach and will assert his authority if this team goes down 3-2, 3-1.

This is a very tough series to pick at these prices. I see poor value in the Warriors at their current price in a rematch and I would have liked the Cavs at +220/+230.

BegginerBoy, who I trust with all Warriors picks, is taking the Warriors in 6. I can't fade that.

In addition to that, adversity is a key question for these teams. We know one team faced and overcame major adversity. That is huge psychologically. The Cavs never faced it. Going 2-2 and returning home against a Raps team whose star of the moment was Bismak Biyambo is not the definition of 'adversity'.

At the same time, I simply can't see Lebron letting this team, now fully healthy as you thoroughly noted, go down 2-0 to start this series. They have shown they can more than come alive from deep (again as you noted) and that is not to be underestimated. I haven't bet it but if I do, I'll probably take the Cavs spread and some ML in Games 1 and 2 and pull for them to go 1-1 and then jump on Begginerboy's Warriors series bet when the Warriors have better value heading to Game 3 if it works out that way.
