This number is at 3.5 now but it will dance to 3 as the day goes on. Can't see Knicks money flowing in with their play of late.
This is a big game for the Knicks. First game after the New Year is a symbolic start. At home. Playing against the team their last win came against 5 games ago.
Lose this game and you go to 16-19. .500 is the bare minimum standard to make the playoffs in theory. Dig yourself a hole here and could spell dark days at the Garden.
Melo, Porzingis and Lee are all questionable. I don't have confirmation on any except a Newday article that says all three believe they will play. With this line, someone knows more than I do.
Knicks match up well against the Magic and only a line of 2 or 1 beats us at -3.
Hornacek is touting that the Knicks will come to play for this game (for whatever that is worth):
"We got to have an effort like we did in Houston, all out playing hard for 48 minutes. You should come in this locker room dead tired after this game."
Brandon Jennings: "Lose this game and we may be heading to a very dark place."
Quotes are lip service but at least the mindset is in the right place in a volatile NBA world.
In a game where they should have been crushed on a B2B in Houston, they outscored the Rockets 67-60 in the second half and got within the number of -11.5 122-129. Inspired play by the backups even in a loss was something to build on. And that is what the Knicks desperately need: a stepping stone, a jumping off point.
Yes they gave up 129 which is awful but Harden burned them for 53 with a historic performance.
Vogel is not optimistic about his team's play of late: "Until our defense turns around, we are not going to be very good" (after there loss to the Pacers 117-104 which is where they should have shined for Vogel against his ex).
The Knicks are going to snag a win here very soon and we have to be on the train when they get it. This appears to be the spot against the team they last beat.
