We continue with the preseason. The rotation of minutes of less habitual players clearly damages any prediction and, therefore, makes it more difficult to hit. Many teams wash their hands in the fourth quarter and do not even play them with 2nd-unit players, even taking out players who will not be on the final roster.
In this derby of Florida we have both teams with 1-1 mark. As we know, the Heat won Atlanta (90-96) thanks to a good defense. That defense was in question in his visit to Brooklyn (88-107), although the worst was his percentage in 3pointers: 14.8% (4-27)
Orlando played his first match in Memphis, losing 84-92. The match was matched until the last quarter, where they played with guys from the 3rd unit. The team recorded a 15.6% in 3-pointers (5-32). His next game was at home to Dallas, and won 89-112 taking advantage of numerous casualties of his rival.
Safe: The level of success of both teams is very low
Probably: Miami +1 / Under - 197.5
The Surprise: It's Preseason
My Prediction
From what I have seen from both teams, Orlando coach Frank Vogel, is using more players less usual in this preseason. He has used 16 players, and the most that Aaron Gordon, Fournier or Payton play, is 15-20 minutes.
With Spoelstra the Heat rotation is shorter, with 14 players, but several of them are not playing for more than 5 minutes (Adebayo, Jordan Mckey, Matt Williams). However Josh Richardson, James Johnnson or Tyler Johnson, are averaging 25 minutes.
This is the pattern and the way both coaches have been managing their templates so far. If they plan to reserve players or something similar for tonight's duel I do not know. It's the problem of preseason.
In any case, comparing 2nd and 3rd unit, Miami is better. Orlando is not an offensive or defensive team. They play in runs, and if they do not have a good point guard on the court who knows how to direct them, the attacks are very unstable.
Finally add that both teams played in the preseason last year, winning Miami as local 77-107.
Miami Heat +1
