Miami Sixers circus game for a draft pick in the Top 10....

Miami traded its 2015 lottery pick to Celeveland for Lebron.

Guess who has it now?

The Sixers.

Miami plays the Sixers tonight.

If Miami loses to the Sixers, they are guaranteed to keep their pick at 10. If it falls to 11 or lower, the Sixers get it.

If Miami wins and the Brooklyn loses (I don't think they will but stranger things have happened), the pick will come down to a coin toss between the Heat and Sixers.

If Miami wins and Brooklyn wins, Miami has a 90% chance of keeping the pick.

We discussed this. Players don't tank (although Begginerboy noted 'faithful soldiers' can play a bit out of the ordinary when games like this occur). But coaches, through order of the GM/Owners can manipulate lineups to ensure cookies crumble favorably.

So why would the coach GM want the Sixers to win this game and destroy any chance of even a coin flip determining an extra top ten
Pick? And the Sixers are the tank-a-masters...

It should be very interesting if Spolestra looks up at the scoreboard and the Magic Nets game is close!

Should be a laugher!

Not only this but the Knicks (don't think they will but stranger...) have a chance to catch the Sixers tonight too with a win over the Pistons and a coin flip will decide the second or third pick as well!

Let's see how 'hard' the Sixers go at it tonight and if anyone mysteriously sits before tip...

yes thats what he is saying but and a big but the sixers are absolute masters at this as they have shown again and again. spo is new at this and i dont think he will be able to outank the sixers. no way. miami wins.

Interesting. Scal, do you see the knicks playing to win tonight or tank?

Read somewhere that it'd be in their best interest to lose tonight. Im not 100% clear on the situation.

BeginnerBoy,is yours just a suspect or are you going to bank on miami?
About today,it's a very confusional situation.
I already played toronto and detroit in a teaser.
I would like to do that with bk and hou as well,seeing the must wins scenarios,but the lines are absolutely crazy,it's very hard even to make a 7 point teaser.Waiting to see eventual injuries.
Tempted to take the heat and chicago,as here atlanta has probably no interest to win.Just that loss to the knicks...is bad to team morale.Maybe they want to bounce back.Now i'm waiting for the final injury report,that should say a lot.What do you guys think?

i may put miami in a small parlay with all the other teams likely to win. but i really think miami gets outtanked tonight. hard for players and coaches not used to tanking to suddenly tank though its possible. i have about 1500 worth of teasers but they are open teases. ill use them in the first round of the playoffs.

I was thinking that since Miami just fell out of playoff contention, they'll be ready to lose.  But you're right -- this is against the most finely-tuned tank machine in the league.  76ers have a ton of picks next year though, right?  This Miami pick should be more important to Miami..

If the knicks win tonight it could do enormous long term damage to the franchise as they will potentially have to leapfrog one of the top two in the Sixers (will come down to a coo flip for #2 if the Knicks win) and Wolves, and play themselves out of Towns and Okafer sweepstakes (who they are in danger of not getting anyway even if they stay at #2 currently). And they need a solid big in the WORST way.

Of course, the 'fringe' players (Galloway, Admunsun, Ledo, Larkin etc.) will play to win just as they did in Atlanta  because they either won't be here next year or fear returning to the dungeon of the D League. Other players like Hardaway? I'll be interested to see what his box score and shot selection look like.

Tonight is a night of teases. Lines are far too big for bad mediocre teams and you have to manipulate them to zero. Yes I'll be teasing the Pistons down.

Scal, recall how Phil had a talk with the players before the Lakers game? He may do the same tonight. Phil is a mastermind when it comes to dealing with players. I think he will convey to them the importance of losing without actually saying it.

Thanks BB and Scal.  Cancelled my 76ers play.  Sticking with Pistons and some teasers.

Bargnani likely out tonight for his fourth straight with an undisclosed "illness". If he plays, and he shouldn't, I have no idea what is going on. And there's an LOL thread about games being thrown. Come on. The guy has sat 4 straight and no one has gotten a clear answer why.

He's a very important cog on a terrible knicks team because he can give 19-20 on certain nights. He sits, Hardaway takes some errant shots and Galloway and Smith come back down to earth (as they should) and this Detroit tease should be fine.

Lol I wasn't a where of any of this I did notice a similar situation last year with Charlotte and Detroit but if every thing you say is true then there's no way the game can possibly go over right I see the o/u has went down a bit but not much 196 is still pretty high for these 2 teams which makes me think the under could be a trap

That's what I was thinking initially but I can also see this game being very competitive until maybe the last 2mins and miami letting philly pull away with some bogus fouls because of course these losers dont want it looking obvious there trying to lose so this is the only way I see this game maybe going to the 100's
