If you're a future bettor, now is the time to buy the Pacers. They are at +400, and I don't think their stock can be much lower. They are in a terrible slump right now, but slumps don't last forever.
The Heat and the Pacers are both in the same mindset right now. The East is a joke, and right now it's just a formality to finish out the season, and both these teams are just waiting to meet up in the Eastern Conference finals. There aren't any teams in the standings making any noise, so they don't have any extra motivation and both teams are not concentrating, and they both are a little banged up and fatigued. But make no mistake about it: as soon as the playoffs start these two teams will step it up, and I don't see anyone in the East who can push either of these teams in a 7 game series. The Bulls can make life difficult, and Toronto can win a couple games, but they won't be able to win a 7 game series. As soon as the playoffs start, and the Pacers look good again you'll be happy you have the +400 in your pocket, and now you'll have some options to hedge that bet.
Anyone that knows the stock market knows the basic rule...sell high, and buy low. Everyone is jumping off the Pacers bandwagon...it's a great time to buy low.

agreed, that is exactly the strategy you need when betting futures. a week ago, i got spurs +450 to win west and +1200 to win champ. also, i added to my pacers/spurs finals position at +1200. now the spurs are healthy and rolling, their odds are now +330 west, +750 champ.

That's how future betting is done...nice job. I'm not a big futures bettor myself, but I wish I could do a half hour seminar on how to properly bet futures. People don't realize when to bet futures, or how to bet futures. Now that you have those inflated odds on the Spurs, you can hedge those bets if the situation presents itself.
Every year in the NCAA tournament you can bet futures and hedge them against individual games to turn a profit, and whenever I try and explain it to people they don't get it. It's an area that bettors are very uneducated in, but make no mistake about it...professionals, and math guys can make a killing on futures.

Not going to do a huge writeup, but this is a good spot for the Pacers to start getting back on track. At home to a team they've beaten 3 times in a row, and even though the Celtics have won 2 straight they aren't exactly lighting the league on fire. They've been awful on the road recently, but they have to like what they see in Kelly Olynk.
In case nobody is reading between the lines, the Celtics and 76ers are brilliantly planning for the future. In 4 years, the Celtics will be contenders if they are able to make a couple of savvy moves. They have a great roster of young guys, and the coach to develop them. The 76ers look like a joke right now, but that's completely on purpose. They will have a great pick to use on a stud and he will be playing along side Carter-Williams, and that's a great core to build around.
I'm pretty surprised the Pacers are giving 12 points...that seems really high to me. But I think this is the spot where the Pacers defense gets better. I've been using the OH system and it's been doing pretty good (not sure if anyone else is still using it), but thought I'd bring it up again.
This is going to be an interesting stretch for the Pacers. They have a run of terrible teams they are getting ready to play, so this is a good place to start a winning streak. I really think their recent slump is that they are a little banged up, and bored with the regular season, but this seems like the right spot to get their defense back on track. I still think bettors shouldn't be putting their money on the Pacers and the points yet, but they have the Celtics, 76ers twice, Pistons, and Knicks as their next 5 games.
It looks like Bynum will make his debut tonight. I don't expect a lot from him tonight, but it will be nice to see him out there and getting into basketball shape. I like the timing here. We have about a month before the playoffs, and this seems like the perfect time to start getting him into game shape so he's hitting his stride right when the playoffs start. Anything to take more minutes away from Mahinmi on the offensive end is fine with me.
Also, thought I'd remind people it's Nascar and Formula 1 season. We've had 2 great weeks in the nascar forum, and the Formula 1 season starts this weekend. No way I'll do as good as I did last year in formula 1 (my F1 season last year was legendary), but it's a great sport to bet on. The racing forum is my favorite forum on covers so I encourage everyone to check it out. There's lots of us who do nascar picks (me, Stats, Maxx40, Tree88, Clepto, madshooter and many others) and we normally end up taking a lot of the same matchups so it's easy to follow picks. And if you have any questions about nascar betting feel free to ask any of us...it's a great group of guys.

I don't know how many people had the chance to watch the Pacers-Celtics last night as it probably wasn't televised in many areas, but I was tuned in to see how Byum would look, and I was shocked at how good he looked at times. He was a tad rusty, but he was closer to game speed than I thought he would be. There were moments where he looked like the dominant Bynum from the Lakers days, and even though it was the Celtics, I thought he looked like a real difference maker. He played about 17 minutes and had 8 points and 10 rebounds. I had forgotten what a physical mismatch he can be, and if I'm the Heat I didn't like what I saw last night. He looked focused, he made a really nice pass on a cutting player to the basket, and he even dunked the ball with a little authority. The Heat have a hard time with Hibbert...they really don't have anybody that can deal with Bynum. As a Pacers fan, I'm keeping my fingers crossed he can stay healthy. Amazing to think the Eastern Conference championship may come down to which knee is healthier...Bynums or Wades.

Remember all the fanfare when he came to Philly after the Iggy trade?
He was like the savior of the city for a reason.
Now he's your backup center.
Does he have knee issues? Yes. But only when they are put through a lot.
As a backup, it's a perfect situation.
He is a major pickup and I think he can stay healthy and is light years better than the modern day Oden at their respective peaks. Heat made a real mistake sitting on their hands and letting this guy go to their chief competition. He can only get better.
But the day he sits out with 'knee soreness', forget it. He won't contribute in any meaningful way from that day on.
Avoid that day and their center position is incredible (much like what Houston wanted but Asik won't play to his capability as a backup).

Agree completely about Miami. I thought was a no-brainer move for them, and I was shocked they didn't make a play for him especially after seeing what little money he got. I have to believe behind closed doors last night and today they are kicking themselves after seeing how he looked last night.
I don't know how his knees will hold up, but if he gives them what he gave them last night every game in a series against Miami, forget about it. 8 points, 10 rebounds in 17 minutes is probably what Miami will get from their center position all game.
Pacers turnovers are still a factor, but with Hibbert and Bynum it's possible those 2 guys go for 30-20 every game against the Heat, and I don't see how the Heat defend that in a 7 game series.

Every year in the NCAA tournament you can bet futures and hedge them against individual games to turn a profit, and whenever I try and explain it to people they don't get it. yes, it is the uneducated action junkies that vegas is built on. i used to trade stock options, it is all about the numbers. not who you acutally think will win, but what will the future odds be and how to profit from that through hedging.

seriously going to lay 19 in the nba? never know if the pacers will show up to play, lately they just try to do the least possible to get a win. they are becoming just like the heat.

I still am not ready to back the Pacers against the spread. I will make a small play on the over 203. Pacers D not consistent right now...Philly giving up points like it's their job. And apparently it is their job.
No OH system for me tonight. Too much risk.

Pretty amazing there are 2 teams tonight with 16 or higher point spreads. Guess that shows how good the good teams are and how bad the bad teams are.
You also have to wonder how frustrating it will be for the Sixers management to watch Bynum out there on the court playing against the Sixers.
I was going to do a write-up, but there's really no need here. Philly has no identity right now, so it's pretty hard to do a correct and accurate write-up on trends, style of play, etc.
I'm still on the over, but I'm not quite ready to pull the trigger on the Pacers, but I can't blame anyone for auto-playing against the Sixers right now. And if you have the guts to put your hard earned money on the Sixers...wow, you have more courage than I do.

First Formula 1 race is tonight...first plays posted in the NASCAR forum. Just inviting everyone in there. If you tailed the NASCAR forum on the Nationwide race today, you're a happy bettor.

Sorry I haven't been posting much guys. I had a throat procedure last week that was only supposed to affect me for a couple of days and instead it's had me off my feet for over a week. It's actually been pretty miserable, so I haven't been watching a lot of Pacers games, but still been sticking to the OH system. I've started to feel better the last 2 days so hopefully I'll be up to full strength by next week.
Didn't do a ton of research, but the Bulls getting 6 points against the Pacers tonight seems like a nice wager. Bulls +220 ML wouldn't be too bad either.
Whatever you go with tonight good luck, and hopefully with a little more rest and a few more days I can be back to doing the standard writeups.
