Its easy to trash the Knicks and all that but which one of us wouldn't think about an extra $40million bill for a player who has 35 games on his resume, as soon as he got handed heavy minutes he got injured, completely shut down by the Heat and after agreeing to $20million went back to the negotiating table to get more....I agree with the Knicks decision to let him walk...good luck to Jeremy but he will never be what some people are saying he will (Nash, Paul, Rose, etc).

i think the knicks made the right move given the circumstances
Houstons on the other hand has me wondering. I can understand if they were gutting their roster for Dwight or some other free agents next year but then to sign Lin and Asik??? to $50 million in contracts makes no sense to me
It's very simple:
Houston and NYKnicks have something in common for the next FEW years: Both teams will not win championships. The city of Houston Texas, in terms of outside business and Houston Rockets are guaranteed to be profiting big time. They will profit way more than what NYKnicks will get.
If I were the NYKnicks, I would take the deal and then trade him to Houston. I didn't like the fact that NYKnicks gave Lin away for NOTHING. Lucky, we got him for nothing.

shaps17 I agree with you, those two player to take up $50million in contracts is ridiculous...
Paidonjok I see it differently...1st of NYK along with the Lakers are the two most profitable teams in the league for years already, this considering the fact that the Knicks haven't made it into the playoffs for years before this past season...They just signed a cable deal as well worth a few hundred million...
The team was also regardless of what happened would always be structured around Melo and this is already proven that Lin can not shine with Melo on the floor...To waste $40 million on that 3rd year for a guard that might not even make it to his 3rd year in the league with that teams structure is ludicrous.
I wish Jeremy the best but in my eyes this was a wise decision for NY and also a very good career path for Jeremy as in Houston he will be a #1 or #2 option where as in on the Knicks squad he drops to 4-5th...

Even mentioning Lin in the same sentence as Paul, Nash and Rose is blasphemous. I've been saying all along, if not for playing in NY and being an Asian-American, this guy wouldn't have been even a blip on the radar. So what if he scored 20 a game in 17 REGULAR SEASON games. I was an All-Central Texas bball player in high school and I'm pretty damn sure I could score 10 a game in the NBA regular season because no one plays a shred of defense. Hell my mom could probably drop 5 a game in the NBA regular season. This was a strictly marketing move by the Rockets and with their owners business interests in China it makes sense, but this kid is below average, led the league in turnovers off the pick and roll, and got greedy. Melo was right, this contract is ridiculous and hopefully ESPN and SI don't make him the center of attention this year and let him regress to the player he is without hyping up every jump shot he makes. Teams figured this guy out and the result was when the Heat actually played defense against him he got completely shut down. Mike Woodson could have played him in games 3 and 4 of the playoffs but chose not to because let's face it, the Knicks are much much better without him on the court.

Yes, NYKnicks and LALakers are profiting teams because they always have a superstar or superstars in the lineup that would be the reason for fans to fill up seats. But JLin brought more. MSG luxury boxes are all booked for the next 2-3 years because of JLin and not because of Melo or Amare. If you walk around MSG and see the bars and restaurants. It's always NYKnicks and then JLin. It's like you either like Chicago Bulls or you liked MJordan.
I just don't like the fact that NYKnicks did no do a sign-and-trade. Knicks could had swapped for draft picks and some of those great rookie prospects that Houston got (Like Royce White, Jeremy Lamb, etc.) Also, I hope NYKnicks decline on signing for JLin was not because of the luxury tax. The NYKnicks had a history of overpricing players (Marbury, AHouston, LLongley, ECurry, JCrawford, Amare, and Melo just to name a few) and paying those luxury taxes so overpaying is NOT THE ISSUE. I would only accept the excuse that JLin is a pick and roll PG and it doesn't work with Woodson and Melo.
BTW, JLin doesn't have to be like Nash, CP3, Rondo or Parker. He just need to be a 12 ppg, 8 assist, 2-3 rebounds and a reduced TO average and he's already a good player. Teams cannot win with a scoring first option PG. PG first option is to make players play as a team to win games.
I agree with you that Jeremy has a much better future in Houston than in NYKnicks. Knicks are a mess and he'll always gonna be stopped by Melo. Now, he could develop his game in Houston. If JLin can make TChandler, and Jeffries look like scoring machines, I think he can do good elsewhere.

Lin and Knicks don't go hand in hand together like Jordan and Bulls....That is just a plain wrong comparison...also I think the fact that he verbally agreed on a $20million deal and when the Knicks said they will match and he went back to negotiate for more and got another $5 million, that was absolutely unprofessional of him, but hey we all want to get paid so maybe we would do the same in that position. Either way I think we agree that Lin has a better chance in Houston and the Knicks dont really have any use for him, hence playing around with his contract, trying to trade him, etc. just isn't worth the time they would have to put into that...
txtechpika Lin didn't play in the playoffs because he was at 85%, which is probably the dumbest thing a Harvard Grad could've said...he bailed on his team to get more money

Deep down, I think JLin doesn't want to play NYKnicks. All of these talks about NYKnicks and wanting to play for NYKnicks was all for show and not to make him feel bad. JLin, like all of us know, that he and Melo doesn't fit. On top of that, NYKnicks is building around Melo. JLin saw better opportunity in Houston and seeing a huge whole in the starting PG lineup so he's going after it. Houston roster's pathetic right now with Kevin Martin is as the first option. The rest are all rookie prospects with high potentials.
JLin didn't bail on his team from the beginning. Knicks was going to offer JLin 2 years for $11 million dollars which he was going to sign for. But then the SNash trade came into the equation and Knicks decided to hold on to as much money as possible to get SNash. Therefore, he asked JLin to go out and shop around. When SNash trade fell short, NYKnicks came running back to JLin and went to sign JKidd to become JLin's mentor. Also, the unprofessional part came from MWoodson when he said in public that NYKnicks will match any offer that Houston was going to publish (That time, it was the original 4 year $30 million dollar deal). JDolan also added that he will match JLin's contract if it was a billion dollars! That changed Houston's contract to make it "more challenging and ridiculous". This pissed off the NYKnicks (both at Woodson and JLin) and immediately made the deal to sign RFelton. As soon as RFelton was signed, we all knew that JLin was gone. It was just a matter of time before the matching grace period expires. I don't think JLin bailed to get more money. But he definitely opted for more money than to play with the team that gave him the chance. The same goes with Landry Fields. He was offered $20 million dollars for 3 years. We all know that this scrub is not worth $1 million a year yet alone almost $7 mil a year.
The Knicks lineup is starting to take shape into forming the isolation offense. The pickup of Elderly home players like Camby, KThomas and JKidd are well suited for stagnant offense and zone defense (like football) All of which benefits Melo. If this works out, you will see a Jeff Van Gundy type scoring result every game.

Didn't the Rockets have good connection with the Chinese market because of Yao? I think they'll be racking up serious bucks with Linsanity going there.

The MSG stock has been skydiving since the beginning of this month with the JLin saga. It fell deep yesterday when NYKnicks made it official.
I remember the days when Knicks signed Luc Longley and he didn't even play a game!
Knicks recruiting office is run by idiots.
Watch, in 12-15 years time Knicks could go ahead and get JLin back. This is what Knicks love to do... Got back Mark Jackson when he was close to cashing out from his 401K. Got back Marcus Camby for 3 years when his lifespan is probably around 6 months. Got back Kurt Thomas who can get us only 5 minutes of playtime per game. Got back Raymond Felton. Let's see where he stands now.
Treating JJeffries like a hooker by trading and then getting him back after he gets waived. This is probably like the 4th time they did that to him.
I bet you that 90% of the people posting in this site can recruit better than them.

lol....yea the people they signed now like Kidd, Thomas and Camby are a bit too old for signing multi-year contracts with...Nash is an exception I think so Lakers got a steal there...
Stock fell by 8.5% since the Lin drama began but I still think it was the right decision to make on the Knicks part, it is dead season for the NBA right now, maybe had something to do with the stock or so many other factors....We shall see in the near future how this plays out...

Sad thing is that JKidd and MCamby are on 3 year contracts. Knicks gave up a lot to get MCamby. I really hate NYknicks for giving up draft picks for players like these. Do we really need MCamby? Knicks been getting decent rookies but they never try to build the farm for these players.

This is good for Jeremy Lin. When Marshmellow Anthony and his cancer lard of a fatass came back to the lineup, the Knicks started losing again. The concept of "team basketball" was thrown out the window once that fat lazy fuck came back. The only reason why the Knicks made the playoffs was because of Linsanity's crazy run. I love how the Knicks turn this around and say "Jeremy Lin is ungrateful". Let me remind you that he was still homeless when Knicks stocks were soaring through the roof because of him.
Knicks and Carmello suck. I can't wait till Jeremy Lin drops 40 in the Garden this upcoming season.

Passing on Lin is stupidity........business wise and improving team chemistry! Lin may not be or may never be a superstar....but he makes the team better.
