Pat Riley is a genius, and I'm from Boston and a huge Celtics fan.

Any TRUE Celtics fan has much respect for him. The guy knows what he's doing and always has.

Genius? Has always known what hes doing?

He might have been a good head coach but Im not sure hes deserving of that kind of pedestal.

He's a Legend in this sport for sure...

He'll will go into the HOF as either or both a coach and an executive.

If you group together coaching and general managing, then it is only Riley and Auerbach (who else?), and Riley has 100000000 times more competition than Red did, and a salary cap, and Riley's been in the game 50 years with success with 3 teams.  And red never played the game.

Pat Riley is the modern g-dfather of basketball.

Jerry West is retired( pat learned from him) and Mitch Kupchak who played for pat and worked with he and jerry- well he's no maestro.

I love mitch- won with the bullets but Pat is the MAN!

Pat Riley has been a part of at least 3 NBA championships with the Heat, and 4 more with the Lakers. He also helped recruit Jimmy Butler, Tyler Herro, and other NBA stars.

He has participated in 34% of the 56 Finals since his rookie year, either as a player, coach or executive. 

Pat is the genius who hired Erik who is another genius.

I am curious about what adjustments he will have defending the 3 ball. A lot is against the Heat in this series----only one win in 10 against the Nuggets. Nuggets seem to pull it out late 4th as a norm when these two teams meet. Defending Jokic and the pass outlets is a tough feat. If any coach can do it, SPO can...

Ill tell you a little story about Pat Riley, when Lebron James was playing for the Heat they won back to back championships and went to the finals again to try to three peat and lost to the SPURS, bitch ass Lebron went into Pat Rileys office and demanded that he fire Erik  Spoelstra in the off season, so PAT RILEY  called a team meeting the next day and told everyone, I DO NOT WANT ANY FUCKING PLAYER TO COME INTO MY OFFICE AND TELL ME WHO I NEED TO FIRE AND WHO I NEED TO HIRE you do your job and let me do mine. HE DIDNT THROW LEBRON UNDER THE BUS RIGHT THERE AND THEN BUT EVERYONE KNEW IT WAS HIM AND LATER ON THRU THE YEARS IT CAME TO LIGHT THAT THE MOTHER FUCKER WANTED ERIK SPOELSTRA FIRED. SPO took the Heat to the finals in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 4 straight years. This is why Lebron is where he is at now, at home because he has always tried to dismantle teams and dictate to GM's who to sign. Michael Jordan would never pull that shit, like going to another team with 1 or 2 good players to try to win championships. Lebron James is a Hall of Famer dont get me wrong, but if I had the first pick to start a team my first pick would be Michael.
