Feel terrible about my recent picks. And my god were the Clippers ready to ball game 1. Hilarious how the Warriors were seconds away from upsetting them in game 7 and now the Clippers all of a sudden look like worldbeaters. I can't even fathom how much money the Clippers have cost me this year. Why the **** do I still bet LAC games? Hopefully can get back on track today.
Portland TrailBlazers @ San Antonio Spurs
San Antonio is a tired act. Noone wants to see them in the Finals again. I thought Dallas would have a great chance to upset them but they let game 1 and game 5 slip away despite having a lead very late in each game. Good teams know how to play the Spurs nowadays, let's not forget the Mavericks were 0-10 SU against San Antonio before these playoffs yet they took them to the brink of elimination and went 6-1 ATS in the series.
Unfortunately, the Mavs were completely worn out by game 7 and lost in a rout but Portland is a much younger and athletic team who won't be gassed as easily. I won't get into why I think Portland is the most underrated team entering these playoffs because I already did so in round 1.
I'm sure everyone choosing San Antonio doesn't care that they struggled big time this year against excellent rebounding teams (3-12 ATS) or the fact that they can't hang with certain high-octane offenses (1-5 ATS). Well guess who is #1 in both total rebounding and points per game this season?
Beating the Mavs in 7 games vs a team that went into Houston and won back to back road games. Houston was one of the biggest darkhorses across the nation that everyone thought had a legit chance to surprise some folks in the playoffs. Harden + Howard joined forces to make a championship run and waited all year long for the playoffs after sub-par playoff performances last year. Despite that, Portland came into Houston and won game 1 and game 2 in there own building. Does anybody realize how hard of a feat that is?
The one thing that concerns me is if the Blazers will be able to defend the pick and roll the way they'll need to against a team that executes it better than anyone in the league. I don't think they'll be able to, but I don't think San Antonio will be able to defend Portland either. These should be some high scoring affairs.
I took a mouth-full from people saying no chance Portland upsets Houston for various reasons. What doubts do we have this time? Portland is too inexperienced? Spurs want to get back to the Finals? Portland is 4-1 ATS against the Spurs since last season if you discount the game where they played without Mo Williams and Lamarcus Aldridge earlier in the year. I think they have an excellent shot to upset the Spurs.
Blazers +7 (4x)
Blazers Series Price +355 (2x)
This was going to be a 5 unit play but Portland is one of the biggest public road dogs i've seen in a while. Kind of alarming but I won't back away from it just because of it. Hopefully the public wins today.
NBA Playoffs: +13.86 units (30-24)
NBA 5+ Unit Plays: 20-5
