I haven't posted in awhile as I haven't been betting. But I just wanted to relay some sad news. If any of you remember the Whizzonator, I just wanted to let you know he passed away a few weeks ago due to complications from a surgery he had. I won't get into details, but I just wanted to let the covers community know. Not sure if any of his other friends posted the news but I thought I'd do my part.
Whiz made a lot of people money, he drove a lot of people crazy, but he was what was great about covers. He was a good friend of mine and I actually met him on covers. He took me from an absolutely clueless bettor, and really showed me the ropes and helped me out a lot. I got my first check from 5dimes years ago because of this incredible week he had. It was the first time I had actually turned a profit.
Unfortunately this tragic loss happened when I was out of the country on vacation so I didn't even get to say goodbye to him to be able to go to his funeral. The last we spoke was early February going over how we are going to bet baseball this season. Needless to say I'll be taking this season off, if not longer. I don't even have any desire to watch sports at the moment.
He just turned 31 I believe. It's a horrible and tragic loss for his family and friends. Personally I thought 20 years from now we'd still be betting on games, calling each other up cursing at the TV. It's always great when a Texan and a New Yorker can build a friendship over the love of the game. I'll never forget the back and forth trash talking/texting during the Rangers/Yankees series. The memories will live forever.
Hell my brother even did a last minute paper on him for his journalism class on the up's and down's of a man's betting life haha, he got a 91% on it. Only the Whizzonator's lifestyle was worthy of that high a score.
You will be missed my friend. And I hope those of you who knew of him can contribute to this post. Moderators feel free to place this post in the proper category, I couldn't figure out where to put it, so I figured NBA season, this is probably the best place for people to see it.
Thanks,
Grinder
