So tell me... why is +2.5 better than +4.5?!

Is it just me, or is there a lot of Lakers love for Thursday's game?  A lot of the plays seem to be on L.A. so far, and i've been in multiple threads where people seem to be supporting the Lakers.

Looking back at Tuesday night, it seemed like a majority of this board was playing Orlando.  The Magic were down 2-0 heading into that game and to that point had looked pretty awful in their first two games of the series.

What i'm getting is, what makes +2.5 better than +4.5?  Why are people showing more Laker love for a line that is 2 points lower?  The Magic are in a better position right now than they were two days ago, so why do people feel like this is a better spot to bet on L.A.?  What's changed?

Help me understand what the thought process is here cause I just don't get it...

Very simple. People think that Lakers ( or that Kobe ) will not allow Orl to tie it up...

When you can pinpoint where the Lakers have lost 2 straight games since April 1st, get back to us.

In my thread for game 3 (in which I indicated that I thought the Magic was the play), one of the key stats was Lamar Odom's play in letdown game situations.  He has been called the Lakers MVP by much of the media, and I agree to some extent.  When he shows up, the Lakers usually do well, and vice versa.  He has been great in a lot of games these playoffs, but one spot where he doesn't excel is the first away game after taking a series lead.  I expect a bounceback performance from him, and from the Lakers.  I haven't looked thoroughly into this game yet, but I think this line is much tighter (although in hindsight, game 3 was pretty tight )  BOL buddy.

I'm surprised Lakers are not favorites here (like Cavs was in game 4 in Orlando)

We all know how that went.

Hangover is absolutely hilarious.  There are lot more funny scenes than in trailer, a rarity.  Perfect movie for anyone involving in bachelor party coming up.

I think ORL is a good pick to win and cover. With the exception of Game 1, every game has been competitive so far, and Game 3 showed us why even superplayers like Kobe can be mortal at times when fatigue overcomes them.

I think ORL is a good pick to win and cover. With the exception of Game 1, every game has been competitive so far, and Game 3 showed us why even superplayers like Kobe can be mortal at times when fatigue overcomes them.

It's all about trying to make sense of it all, and I really can't make sense of this line.  Nor can I make sense of why people seem to be in love with the Lakers tonight.

I just don't understand the motivation for people to be all over the Lakers at +2/2.5 when just the other day they could have had them at +4/4.5.  Why were people so split on that game, yet for game 4 people are dropping money on the Lakers left, right and center.  This is obviously a different game, but like I said earlier, the Magic are in a much better position than they were for Game 3.  The situation has changed for the better for Orlando, and now people decide to bet L.A.?!

It just doesn't compute for me.

Because 2-0 is a worse spot than 2-1. Especially for the Lakers. I am a huge Laker fan, but I was all over Orlando last game because the Lakers cannot put in effort night in and night out. Point being, Orlando was going to come out with survival instinct desparation due to the 2-0 hole, which the lakers could not match.
Tonight is different. Orlando is relaxed and just set an NBA finals RECORD for shooting. Their effort is going to be lower, just human nature, and their shooting has got to be worse.
This is the Lakers type of spot. Kobe having something to prove and they are hanging on the brink, i.e. if the series is tied, then the momentum swings to orlando and the pressure to the Lakers.
This is a much better spot to bet the Lakers, and the nba's best player, best team, in a bounce back  situation at PLUS money, is the right play.

    Really?  That's your reasoning?

You said you were all over the Magic last game... how'd that turn out?  You said the Lakers weren't going to be able match up with Orlando's survival instinct desperation in game 3?  Well they kept the game pretty fucking close from what I saw.

As far as tonight, how can you make a claim that Orlando is relaxed?!  That their effort is going to be worse?  Because they shot incredibly well and won the game by 4 points?!  Because no matter how many times they took the lead, L.A. would come right back?

The way you're talking you'd swear Orlando won game 3 by 30 points.

It sounds to me like your making a bet on the Lakers based on what you want to happen rather than what WILL happen...

Hardly any love for Orlando tonight.

    Spread: LA 72% - ORL 28%

    ML: LA
    83% - ORL 17%

    Ouch!

    I agree.

The Lakers have been annoited the Basketball King of the NBA until someone hits them and the betting public in the mouth

Last year the Celtics did it....this year the Magic has to prove it to the betting public and the media that they can beat LA

LA simply has the love of the public so vegas and bookies adjust the line accordingly becuase if LA is +5 people will take them if they are +2 they will take them and if they are -5.5 they will still take LA.

I respectfully disagree with your reasoning Canada.  The past 2 games the Lakers have not played that well.  In game 3, Orlando shot +60% for the game and only won by 4 points.  At one time they were shooting over 70% and were losing.  If you shoot the ball that well you should be winning easily by DD.  Their Defense and FT's are killing them and after two mediocre games by LA, I think they get back into the swing of things and win this game rather easily.  GL
