just looking at the nuts and bolts of it in terms of player performance and talent the raptors look like very strong favourites to my eyes, lebron just cannot expect consistent help from anyone and i dont think their defense can ever be counted on,despite doing a decent job on indiana...im almost certain toronto would not have been taken to 7 games by the pacers the way the cavs were but then again its a question of different teams matching up with other teams........i think if you take the cavs you are betting 100% on lebron going ballistic as he always does and doing basically everything.i see this as the equivalent of him having to do what he did in that finals win vs the warriors, just given how weak his supporting cast is at the moment.....everyone i guess expects the raptors to melt away like they always do but im not sure,i think mentally maybe they are ready this year but whether they are good enough is the question..they definitely have enough bigger, athletic bodies to throw at lebron to wear him down....my conclusion is that all logic and conventional wisdom says that toronto is comfortably the better team but obviously having the best player counts for alot in basketball.

if this thing comes down to one game who do you trust
the crazy thing is LeBron seems to be able to step up ANYTIME he needs to
do you trust derozan to drop 45 if need be
or lowry to get out of his own way and score 20 while getting 10 assists ... I don't , at least not consistently in the playoffs
the raptors are like an aero bar , looks great , might even sufficiently fill you up from time to time and keep you happy with it , but hoesntly it has zero substance lol
Lebron will do what lebron will normaly do. quesiton is can raptors actually hold out and win in a 7 game series since they got home court this time. They are well balance team but if lebron has his crazy moment this year and can pass round 2 he could.

the answer of course is that i trust lebron everytime...but the issue is that his team-mates are less trustworthy than ever...lebron was brilliant against the pacers like he always is,and still they had to go to a do or die game 7 and squeek out a 4 point win, which shows just how inept his roster is...now he gotta do it all over again versus a MUCH better team than the pacers AND he gotta steal homecourt away..at some point it might just become a bit much.
and besides,it may well not come down to a one game eliminator, raptors possibly could finish it in 6.
im not even saying i love the raptors or anything,i dont see great value in backing them...but just offering different points of view..hey,its entirely possible that love and j.r and tristan etc...all wake up and play to their full worth and the cavs could even take it comfortably if that happens.....but just based off of what we've seen this will be a gruelling tough series for them .

Big question for me will be the pace of the game. Cavs vs Pacers was played at an absolute grind, like early 2000s pace with 93 possessions per game.
This is a big reason why the Cavs offense sucked but also why their defense was respectable. They made no attempt to pick up the pace which is crazy imo, shows how poor of a coach Ty Lue is because this team has made it's living playing as a fast team that knocks down 3s then all of a sudden they allow Indy to turn every game into a grind with no flow.
Toronto like to play a lot faster than Indy and obviously the total of 217 reflects that.
Cavs beat Raps in two shootouts near the end of the season, small sample size but faster pace should help the Cavs offense, if they can keep their defensive eff at 107 and get their offensive eff back up over 110 then they might have a chance.
