Went 1-0 last night and picked up 3 units. I had a lean on the under in the second half but did not think the margin warranted a wager so I layed off, oh well. I do apologize for the late post as I was traveling this morning. On to todays action.
Magic/Detroit...1st Half...Under 93...4 Units...Throughout the playoffs the home team has dictated the tempo and essentially played the style of basketball that got them to this point. If you look lightly into the four games played thus far the 1st half numbers totaled 85, 90, 96 and 99 through Games 1-4, respectively. This demonstrates the home teams tendency to keep the game in their comfort zone. In this case, the Pistons should apply the defense that is ranked third thus far in the playoffs and was ranked first during the regular season largely due to their play in Auburn Hills. I can see the second half of this game taking off and the game total going over but the first half you should see the Pistons use a good half court pressure defense resulting in a low shooting percentage and taking the shot clock down to 5-7 seconds before setting up the shot.
Spurs/Hornets...Over...186'...3 Units...Interesting total in that the prior two games played in this series in New Orleans did not go over this total, close, but still would have been under. This was a system play with key controling factors pushing this total into the 190's. Continuing my discussion regarding the home team controlling the tempo, I see the Hornets pushing the ball up and down the court in an attempt to get out in front quickly to establish an early lead. The Hornets at home are only 24-19 on the O/U but what helps push this over is the officiating crew, go figure. Combined on this point total these three are 53-36 on the O/U, which should get both of these teams to the line often where the Spurs are shooting 74% and the Hornets 77%.
I will more than likely have a second half play in one or both of these games tonight.
Good luck to everyone!

Green...Coming off 1 days rest teams typically fall apart on defense quicker, which provide easier scoring chances for their opponent. That should happen this evening. Look for the Hornets come out quickly and attempt to establish a big lead and I am betting that the Spurs start chasing early.

Hornets...Team Total...Over 95...6 Units...The Hornets are averaging 99.6 ppg in the playoffs, which ranks them second behind the Lakers (including only remaining teams). However, at home they are averaging 106.6 ppg through their five games played. For the same reasons stated in my opening post I look for this game to be high scoring and I look for the younger Hornets to outrun the Spurs.
Good luck to everyone!

Junior...I do not believe in jinxing, so to speak, I have learned from a good bit of experience not to count a win or a loss until the final whistle/buzzer sounds.
Did you have the over or are you on Detroit?
