Things have not been going well for me of late in the NBA. Win one. Lose one. Win two lose one. Win one lose two. Not good. Having said that, I absolutely love both these games tomorrow.
The Warriors have beaten the kings 6 straight times and look to make it 7 tomorrow night. But it's not going to happen because:
1) The Kings are much better than the Warriors this year. This is a team that recently beat the Mavs and Rockets on the road. Not an easy feat. Meanwhile, the Warriors are just messing around. They really are. Watch them on any given night, and you have no idea what the plan is, and neither does Draymond Green, which is why he keeps taking so many nights off. Kerr claims the team is improving but I don't see it. Even though it took overtime for the knicks to beat the Warriors they were head and shoulders above them. They were just complacent at times, which is why it took overtime to get the win. At no point were the Warriors a real threat despite being five point favorites and the knicks being on a back to back.
2) The Kings are now coached by Luke Walton. The same guy who took the Lakers to GS and gave the Warriors a beatdown last year even after LBJ got hurt. He will not want to be shown up by Kerr, his mentor, and a depleted Warriors team. Especially not as the Warriors have dominated this northern california rivalry for several years now. Walton, having been on the Warriors coaching staff when the Warriors were smoking the Kings, will remind them of that and the fact that the Warriors did not feel sorry for them all those years they were bad.
3) The Kings are coming off an embarrassing loss at home where they lost to the lowly knicks despite leading for most of the game. Walton blamed the team's letdown on their recent success:
"We've had some nice emotional wins lately, and in the past that has caused us to have a letdown," Walton said afterward. "We built up a nice lead and we didn't maintain it. We fell off. The Knicks imposed their will on us."
Now the Kings play the team the knicks recently beat at Chase Center. So to lose to the Warriors would be doubly embarrassing. They will have their guard up for this one and will not allow another letdown against a rival that has beaten them 6 straight.
4) The Kings are starting a 4 game road trip and they will want to get off to a good start especially as it's only a bus ride to San Francisco and travel will not be an issue. In essence, geographically at least, this is another home game for the Kings.
The Play: kings -3
I will have the writeup for the second game tomorrow morning.

Orlando @ Pelicans rock bottom angle + redemption angle
The Pelicans have now lost 11 straight games: a franchise record! One more loss and the current team will have to live with the stain of surpassing that unflattering record. That game comes today but the Pelicans will not lose because:
1) The team already tried once to end this losing streak at home but came up just short, losing by a bucket after turning the ball over on their final posession. So this is a second opportunity for them and i love teams in similar situations to ones wherein they failed. It's a version of the redemption angle. The last time out they played the lousy Pistons at home, but because Favors was not ready to join the team, they lost. Now they get another chance at redemption, but instead of the lousy Pistons they'll get yo do it against lousy Magic.
2) Speaking of Favors, a lot of fingers are being pointed at him for this losing streak, and though he has let on that he does not care, or care as much as he should because he is dealing with the loss of his mother, you know he will want to help his team put this ugly losing streak behind them as soon as possible. In fact, the team was so motivated that it almost pulled off the upset against the sixers on the road. Lucky for us, they failed. And now we get another opportunity to back them in a "favorable," no pun intended, spot.
3) Speaking of favorable, the Magic also come in to this matchup limping in after having lost 3 straight. And though the Magic might be getting their all-star center back tomorrow, that's not necessarily a good thing. I like fading teams in that first game where a star player who has been out for a while returns. Not only is there rust to contend with for the returning player, but the other players who have been doing more in his absence also relax a bit, thinking they won't have to do as much to carry the load. So if Vucevic does play, I'm not worried. And if he does not play, the Pelicans will still have the upper hand.
4) The game is an early afternoon game, and what better way to cap off the week then with a streak busting victory and a well earned night off!

At first glance, Kings should be an easy pick. Dunny why this line is so low considering they are performing well and that Knicks loss should just be some random shit. Something tells me that this could be a trap game, but this line is too low to pass up. BOL brotha!

The Pelicans are an unmitigated disaster. I'm sorry about the pick. Any half-normal team in that spot, and they find a way to win that game. But they just self-destructed after halftime. Did not see the game. I guess the team was getting no love from the officials, which did not help. The Magic were getting all the foul calls though they were the road team. Here is a good article on the tragic gentry and what an awful coach he is:
As far as capping, I can't catch a break. Should have just stuck with the non-dysfunctional Kings.
