Same routine, listing favorites and then whatever comes to mind. Just post any thoughts or angles you have, challenge anything, pick things apart, whatever..
Nets -2.5: Pistons on B2B with short travel from Boston where they played the Celts hard all night after losing by 20 to the Celts in their prior game. Emotional/motivational letdown for them here to now face Nets? I don't love Dwayne Casey but he's a vast improvement over SVG who was just killing their franchise. Line opened -1.5 and has been bet up. Nets feisty on defense and these teams matchup pretty well, could be a bruiser type of game. Nets have 2 point win at home against Knicks and a comfortable win at Cavs. Nets have played tougher schedule though, but have been down by large margins in each before sometimes climbing back into games late. Small lean to Pistons if line keeps creeping up though this line gives me some hesitation.
Nuggets -7.5/-8: Nuggets didn't play that well against short handed Pelicans and now head to Chicago. Klay exploded on Bulls for 14 3's, but Nuggs don't have that kind of perimeter fire power nor do they play anywhere close to the Warriors pace. They do have nice depth at guard with good production throughout but they run a very conservative scheme overall and prefer to play slow. Bulls can get hot from 3 and hang in. Nuggs also not a strong road ATS team. Lean Bulls at this number.
Jazz -2.5: Wolves came out focused at least on offense and got the bounce back win against Lakers after getting humiliated by Bucks. The question is - will the Butler situation remain a distraction for them as they claimed it was before the Bucks game? Jazz defense not as strong on the road but defensive numbers are still much better than Wolves. Their shooting/scoring is more inconsistent than Wolves though. Rubio has been poor so far and Mitchell has been very inefficient. Gobert/Towns matchup here. No real lean for me but might consider Wolves at better number.
Pacers -5.5: Pacers off home loss to Blazers looking to bounce back. Knicks off comfortable pay back win against Nets. Both these teams play defense so this could be tight. Line seems a bit high. Knicks attractive as home dogs in the Garden and have totally different energy about them this year under Fizdale who's doing a very solid job with a very depleted roster. No strong opinion, but wouldn't lay with Pacers on road at this price who don't seem in rhythm yet, so Knicks or pass I guess.
Spurs at Suns: No line due to Booker status. Spurs should've lost at home to Mavs but can't really back Suns either. Spurs 4-2 record very deceiving where each of those wins could've easily gone the either way. Suns very young so will naturally play better at home generally speaking, but risky trying to time when those kind of spots arise. Don't like their PG play. Easy pass on this one.
Pelicans at Warriors: No line due to Davis status. Pels played Nuggs tight with Davis and Payton out. Warriors exploded at the arc on Bulls which they can do against anyone. Their spreads are a complete toss up based on that element alone. Never fun trying to fade them. Pels would be semi-attractive if catching solid DD points and Davis at full strength due to his huge mismatch against current Warrior bigs. No opinion until his status is known and line released.
Lakers -6.5/-7: Lakers continue losing the close games and fiddling with their starting lineup and rotations. Mavs should've won in regulation at Spurs but DSJ blew it for them. Personally not a big fan of his overall game though I know he's still very young. Lonzo's been playing poorly recently. Line is inflated here but Mavs seem to go through tough stretches in each road game. Doncic played 40 mins scoring 30 and his back seemed fine against Spurs, was a concern going in. Bench scoring for Mavs has been shaky, Lakers better depth and play better at home. Mavs 0-4 on road but with 2 covers, one being on that miracle 3 backdoor against Raps. Small lean Lakers but wish line was lower.
