The past few weeks I have not been watching the games I have bet on (except for NFL). Let me tell you it has been very liberating, stress free. I check the box scores in the morning and when I see a win its just as nice as if i watched the game and won, but if i see a loss, the disappointment, the anger, the stress is not there, especially if it comes down to end of the game crazy stuff. It seems to really take the emotions out of my decision making.
Anyone else approach sports betting this way?

I watch far more often than not, against my better judgement. And if not, I have the score box opened up on another tab that I'm checking every handful of minutes if not seconds

I look at the espn live on my iphone every 3-10 minutes most of the time. Too much pressure. When I was 30 years old I could take it, at 50, I'm working on life preservation. lol
Just too much stress. Its exciting enough to look at the score periodically. No way I could wait until the morning though.

I bet, and then check for the result hours later or the next day.
All that matters is the result, so why watch? It's only going to stress you out.
It's a random result. So, how it comes, means nothing All that maters is the result.
The ONLY time I watch? Is if my favorite team is playing. Or? A big game, like the ncaaf bowl game, or the super bowl....or the playoffs, or world series.
Other than that? All that matters is the result. If you want to be a professional at this.....stop watching the games.

Get too angry at players' mistakes, coaches also b ut mostly players , and being angry will spread out to myself personally and to others around me--so I atch only highlights, and very few parts of games. Very few games are good to watch if you think about it.

I am able to assess my losses more objectively when I don't watch the game. It is so crazy to hear everyone on here blame the players, the coaches, the refs, the leagues, other posters. You placed the bet! It's you're decision, and you are responsible!

I agree with a lot of what you've said. In sports like basketball or baseball when there are games every day, I generally choose not to watch most of them. That's not to say I don't have my scoreboards up on my laptop sometimes, but I just check them occasionally. Depends on what is going on with the wife and kids too. Now during football season, on Saturdays and Sundays, the games are on most of the day.
But stressing over every play, or call, or score is taxing on your brain. You can go insane micro analyzing every play or quarter, half, game. Much easier to take a macro approach. Do your best to make the best plays, and let the chips fall where they may. I think it's counterproductive to get too hung up on the "luck" factor (i.e. getting moosed, bad calls, bad bounces, etc) as that will even out over time.
All that being said, if you are really trying to be great at sports betting, you probably need to watch as much as you can, and make it priority number one. That's why for me and a lot of others, it's just a hobby. A hobby that will hopefully make you some money, but still just a hobby.

I don't watch the games but follow it thru espn. I mainly don't watch games because it preoccupies a lot of my time and before there was a stretch where I would usually watch a game I have money on during some crucial stretches of the game and my team usually loses. So the superstitious in me tells me not to watch lol.
But more than anything, I suggest to you guys to atleast follow the games, the nba season is so long and with so many games it is impt imho to know what how a team plays today and how they won ir how they lost, this helps me how to bet the next day or the next game. Looking at the final score does not tell you the story of the game.

Watching the first half of games gives me anxiety anymore second half I'm ok with. If I could have 6-11 screens (depending on the day) I could watch every game at once and love every minute of it tho

years ago when I used to be a bookie, I don't watch. I only do the winning and the losing next day and nothing bothers me. Lately as a gambler I do watch and its a lot more exciting especially when you know ahead of time that the game was going to be fixed.

Betting on a Basketball game seems to be the most profitable especially NCAA. I used to treat it just like the stock market and checked account in the am or before going to bed. WIth all the runs and scoring Baskets are very stressful to watch when you have bets on them....That being said I just got the NBA ticket so I could go against teams with large leads in 1st half of games. All you need to watch in NBA game is final 3 or 4 minutes. The rest of the time is just positioning for that period when both teams are going to actually put effort in. Chicago Golden State game was an exception the other night both teams treated it like playoff game.....Betting on basketball and watching games bet on you better go get Blood Pressure Dosage upped from the Doc. You will need it. In the past I treated BBall as sports stock market. In fact my information sheets are trend lined just like stock market.
Now betting on Football is whole different story. I love watching an NFL or NCAA football game anyways but when you have money on it nothing better. Unless you are at the games live. That does cost you money though as you have no idea whats going on elsewhere.

RaiderPug----What do you think about the Raiders hiring of new coach. It sounds like they are opening checkbook up for coordinators. In his opening press conference he spoke about changing the Culture and went on to allude to the fact that younger players are trying to set the culture. There needs to be changes made for sure and first thing we need is some receiving talent. When James Jones is your #1 you need help. I am cautiously optomistic about Raiders returning to glory days sooner than later. I think we have our QB for future and that rookie RB is legit. On 4 carries against the top rush defense in NFL he had more yardage than the veterans did for the season......Sorry for the football talk in basketball thread....Just passionate about THE RAIDAS
