Why is the NBA championship called WORLD Championship?

I got another question. Why is the United States of America called "America"?
Is the USA the only country in continent America or what?

This always bothers me. Only the team that wins the Super Bowl is a world champion. You can make an argument for the Stanley Cup too because most of those guys are Europeans and whatnot.
 
Whoever wins the NBA is not a world champ because these same morons find a way to lose to Argentina in the Olympics.

To be honest, I am not even sure about the Super Bowl because only Canada has a similar game. To me, World Cup in soccer is the only one.

It is because in basketball, football, baseball, and hockey the USA has the best leagues...The best players from around the entire world come to play here...
 
Soccer is a different beast altogether...........

prolly because any of the other teams around the world..the great proball teams of Turkey, Russia, Spain, ect would never beat either of the finalists..probably never beat even the 8th seeds
 
 
those are the BEST of that they have to offer...which is nothing.

The only time we didn't win the Olympics when the USA send NBA players was when we didn't have Kobe Bryant the best player in basketball playing for the USA.

 I would like to see a match vs Barcelona, Tau Baskonia, Panathinaikos or CSKA..
If they defend like they use to in the NBA, any good Euroleague team can beat them, anytime. just because of the defense.

Btw. Spain is the World Champion.

I have never heard anything more stupid.

USA killed Spain in the Olympics...twice...by a combined 49 points....Euro Leagues = Minor Leauges. Get over it.

Although the NBA consists of only USA and Toronto, the title "world champ" is just.  These are the best players from around the world....not just USA...and if there is good talent in other countries they are given a shot to make the league.

I acknowledged your opinion and no one can dispute the fact that the NBA has the most of the best players in the world. However, that's not the point. For example, NHL has most talents playing in it as well but I don't believe they call themselves "World Champion". It's all about participation. Otherwise, it wouldn't take two years to play all the games to decide who would play in the World Cup. Just my 2 cents.

That's because Team USA never sent EVERYBODY since 92. When USA sent their best and cared even for a bit, they won.

Actually, USA did not even send everyone to China. KG, Duncan, and Billups didn't go and they still beat Spain by 49 points in 2 games.

And who gives a fuck about world rankings? They mean absolutely nothing because they are based on games played by nobodies in front of friends and family throughout the year. Furthermore,  look at the FIFA ranking in soccer. Holland is ranked higher than Brazil, Italy and Germany. That should tell you about FIBA and FIFA rankings.

first of all,Garnett,O'Neal etc 'don't want to" play for the national team,and you can't put 100 nba stars in olympic team,of course there will be talented players who are not there.

but in Greece,USA was humiliated by Argentina and Greece BOTH,and tell me the team there was not good with Lebron James,Carmelo,Amare Stoudamire,Wade,Duncan??
