Because he plays behind derrick rose!! How much love can you get when you only play when your star is hurt. I agree hes a  much better player than lin and half of the rest of the point guards in the league but will never get the shine  until he is a starter somewhere else.

Beside being a rare Asian american nba player, Lin is also the only harvard grad player and was never offer a basketball scholarship. He was waived by a couple of team and almost by the Knicks.  He play in new York and they were losing before he got his chance. He was like the third or fourth pg. they won 7 in a row without their stars.  He became the highest scoring player in the first five starts or so.  He makes $600k.  

John Lucas 3 is a son of former nba player and coach.  He played at Baylor and Oklahoma st where he went to the final four. And he has been he the nba form a while.

Eh.. If he was Asian he would be getting SOME hype.. Hes getting absolutely none.. He's 5'7 and BALLING whenever Rose is out..

If he was a 5'7 Asian doing it, he would be a house hold name like Lin is

You got it partially correct.  Other than Yao Ming (I see Yao Ming as an International Trade to expand NBA international market), Jeremy Lin is actually the first Asian American to play in the NBA. 
Height wise his just average.  I think the most important reason behind the Jeremy Lin hype is that he was not drafted nor signed as a starter by any team.  But instead he was a bench warmer and eventually let go by GSW.  His journey to be signed by Knicks is quite dramatic.  Almost all NBA teams turned him away, this includes Knicks.  Knicks was going to let him go if it was not for all the injuries.  Let's just say everything happened for a reason and both side (Jeremy Lin and Knicks) benefited from it.

That's exactly it. I agree with this statement. Now you're understanding the difference It makes when race is involved.

Damn dude you need to read more , it's not just about race.   In fact his race didn't help him early in his basketball career.  He was overlooked by colleges and the nba because of his appearances.  

He didn't get a chance earlier because he didn't fit a "basketball player" descriptions.

Well Bulls is the #1 team in the NBA right now, so of course his accomplishments won't be highly recognized.  Considering that the Bulls have D.Rose who is also the hype right now, there is little to no shining room for John Lucas.  Lin stepped it up for the Knicks when they were in the shit, cause no one else could play the damn point guard position better than he could in the Knicks.  Besides, you're talking about comparing a kid who got neglected by everyone just because he was Asian versus a guy who has been in the NBA for awhile, and on one of the best team in the NBA.

Not sure I agree with you on that.  You can say that the media tries to figure out what concerns or excites the public and then goes finds something that will do so but the media is the one that decides it.  There's many newsworthy things going on, the media has many options.  

For example, if it wasn't for the media, I woudn't know there were so many child molesters.  That doesn't mean that there werent' child molestors now or before, it just means the medea hypes it up and draws more attention towards it.

The NBA needed a savior this year, LIN is the chosen one. He still needs to work on his game. Im not sold on him yet.

Ok all these guys commenting, first off gotta be black cuz wtf you comparing the race card?  NBA is 99.99% black so who cares if the spot light is on some one who isn't?  Shit why is it when your black everything is frickin race card?  GET OVER IT OUR PRESIDENT IS BLACK.  So again why does it matter that Lin is getting more hype than Loucas?  Why the whole emphasis on race?  White people just hate LIn or discredit him cuz hes Asian.  So if your comparing him to another player and asking why not him....your black.
