A rivalry only people in there 50's plus would probably care about. Ever since that Bob guy brought that fantasy matchup to the forum I'm starting to actually see people also now buy into it. Yes both teams have met in the finals twice in the last 20 years but it was 20 yrs before that the last time they faced each other. Think I may have been 3. You think people in their 20's would actually prefer or care to see this matchup? So why would the NBA? Can we stop this script. It will be Denver and Boston... Why? Because they are the better teams and matchup perfectly against their next opponents imo. Yes anything can happen but not bc of the BS rivalry

sure as sh-t a lot more interest than Denver Boston--ok you are correct_I am 51 and I can remember those 80s Lakers/Celtics finals and I still think the best finals matchups since '79 when I started watching the NBA. late 90's Bulls/Jazz yawn-Cavs Golden State got old after 2016; both franchises are at 17 titles and LA can overtake Boston with a win this year after years of futility trying to beat Boston in the 60s...
It helps that there have been relatively recent matchups with the Kobe-led Lakers and KG/the Truth matching up; For instance a Superbowl with Steelers/Cowboys doesn't have the same catchet now, but it did in the mid-90s since they had matched up multiple times in the 20 years prior with some of the best Superbowls of all time....

The ratings for BOSTON vs LA finals would be through the roof!! Boston is a huge sports market city and LA is about as big as it gets. Fans span from both coasts of the country. The narrative for Lebron going for his 5th championship to tie Kobe Bryant would be there. Both franchises are tied for 17 championships and the series would present the opportunity for one of them to become the NBA's winningest franchise while directly going head-to-head with the other! This is a wet dream scenario for the NBA. If Adam Silver and the refs have any influence on making this happen, they will. LA has been one of the best teams since the all-star break and is the best 4th quarter team in the NBA. LA has the chops to beat Denver and only a slight series dog. Boston is a massive series favorite versus Miami. It is entirely possible we are looking at a Lakers/Celtics finals.
Chalks, Dogs, Overs, Unders, Props....I love 'em all

Because refs need to fix the legacy of this matchup after the horrid regular season matchup where they blew the call for Lebron. Who knows their reasoning but ratings would be one important reason

The two largest fan bases in the NBA each with 17 titles battling to see who has more each in a coastal town east coast vs. west coast. You are right. No storylines or promotion could help that stinker of a story get fans.

Yes if my reasoning is correct youre gonna wish you cashed that ticket out before game 1

According to Forbes Knicks are the Dallas Cowboys version of the NBA so wouldn't it had made sense for the NBA to send Knicks and or LA/GS to the finals in terms of ratings and money? Seems like you think the NBA really just wants Lebron in the finals

I guess for me I don't like to believe in soap opera story lines, fairy tails, and scripts and then the same one's spewing this non-sense will claim the NBA is not rigged which is the exact same thing. If I wanted to watch a sport with story lines I'd go back to watching WWE (Hadn't watched since the WCW days). As a fan who's team sucks (Spurs) and have no real rooting interest in any of these playoff teams (maybe Miami) I just want to see a finals featuring the two very best teams who will showcase an exciting series finals. I'd expect others who truly love the game of basketball would want the same and not something out of a movie
