If they added Josh Smith and JJ Redick, then Id say you're onto something. But they got rid of their best rebounder and 3 1st rounder's for what? I'm not sure what this trade is all about. Who is the Nets general manager? and why would anyone in their right mind make this trade? I gotta look into the contracts, maybe they were seeking relief so they can foolishly spend more money once these old timers expire. In the history of this league, its very rare to put a roster on the fly and win right away. Just don't see this unit being able weather the storms. I am just so intrigued though of the idea that Jason Kidd, 3 months fresh out of this league, is coaching this bunch. That's interesting.
They might contend. And to them I would consider "contending" as, being able to put up a fight in the conference semifinals.
To answer the question, no way in hell.
I think it will be a nice fit for the Nets, they should be improved enough to win a 1st round series and possibly a 2cd round series.
Bringing in older past their prime veteran players with championship experience almost always brings promise but ............rarely brings titles.
