rod-steel is right, pacers completely burned themselves out playing balls-2-the wall in the early months to seal that #1 seed....not used to playing at that level for so long....whereas the bulls play all out all the time so are used to it and conditioned to it by thibodeau.....maybe they can recover for playoffs, maybe not.dont look good at all for them rite now...
in that thread called "thread by a pacers local"(sorry, cant remember the guys name that writes it),theres some real interesting stuff about paul george and wat his struggles are linked to,seems it goes pretty deep and off-court issues bogging him down......obviously he is critical to this teams chhances to do anything at all..they simply cannot go without his scoring and ability to get his own shot without help
sorry but i totally disagree. Pacers didnt go all out to try and get the 1 seed and then burn themselves out to the point where they cant even beat the worst teams in the league. This team has got huge internal problems and it seems like the players are losing games on purpose to send a message to management.
Sure teams burn themselves out and have off games, but then they pick themselves back up again. This has gone on way to long now. down by 32 at the half. Thats not burnout

George and Anthony are both brutal. Both way overpaid and incredibly overrated. Not players you can win with. Today 10 for 34. Both played in games that were big for their teams. Anthony 0 in 4th quarter. Somebody said he is hurt. If true, why is he out there? Is Woodson that stupid?

Granger trade is one, locker room presence is more important than Bird thought, although he was washed up or an injury prone, he was that one player that everyone just listen to in the locker room. The O.G of the pacers, now we got the whole Ind team fighting for that spot.
Two, PG and that stripper rumor or news is affecting his play, with stardom and money comes a lot of problems only money and fame can bring, problems PG is still learning on the fly, not sure if this rumor is affecting his play 100% but for sure it have affected him to a certain degree.
Three, turner and Stevenson are both in contract years. Lance wanting the ball more make sense, I personally think the Pacers goes as he goes with his ball pushing and drives to the basket, although he have about 3-5 bone head plays a game, but Turner to me is the killer of this team, either he is not buying into the system or he just can't play any D at all. I can go on more about his play and how he came from the 76ers but I'm sure everyone already know this stuff.
Four, big Roy, he is calling people out being selfish, taking like he is the super star of this team, but truth be told, he is soft and weak. He openly requested to touch the ball more after this funk Ind is in, and after watching their whole game vs Was a few days ago, I saw that everyone did try to get him the ball, but he can't finish at the basket or have moves like a true center to get that basket on ISO.

cd329,it just depends on how much physical and emotional toll playing all-out for that long had on them...they were really maxing out remember.they dont have the talent and depth of sum other elite teams so it wud be more draining on them...its hard to know exactly wat effect it has had but theres not many other explanations for how its gone so wrong are there??...a team peaking and primed to contend hard for its 1st title and then 2 just go south this way??awfully hard to believe it is deliberately of their own doing.
and as for granger, even tho he didnt contribute massively on the floor there are guys in the league who are so much more valuable in other ways as "glue" guys, leading, motivating and helping the mood and confidence of a squad in so many ways....chemistry is a fickle thing and ya can change one tiny part of a team and it can throw everything else off-kilter...plus i understand he was paul georges best friend and mentor on the team

They will be fine. Why would they want the #1 seed? They would most likely get the winner of Chicago/Brooklyn in the 2nd round while the Heat get Toronto. Take the #2 seed, and let the Bulls/Nets beat the hell out of the Heat for 6 or 7 games.

Again, I do not think the loss of Granger is the reason for the slide. The team has a lot of veteran presence in the locker room and the loss of Granger's perceived locker room presence should not equate to these much losses piling up.
