Thursday Night Football Write-Up

Points
+Raiders are on double revenge.
+Raiders GM/Coaching staff under the gun.
+Raiders have been preparing for this match-up before this week.
+Raiders defense is underrated.
+Raiders potential run threat w/ L. Murray.
+Chiefs' short rest, sandwich/look-ahead situation having played SB Champs last week and SB opponent next week.  
+Cross country trip.
+J. Charles avg. 76 yds after +100 yd gm,   
+J. Charles struggles agst the Raiders.
+In this situation, tms like the Chiefs cover ATS at a 58% clip since 2009.

Summary
Plain and simple, Raiders have to slow down Charles.  This being a short week, Charles is off a big game having touched the ball 20 times on the ground and rush for 159 yard with two touchdowns.  He is not going to have enough time to recover.  Plus, the 1500 mile trip does not help.  This Raiders defense is not as bad as people make them out to be if you look at DVOA numbers, 14th against the rush (for one).  This is a very underrated defensive squad.  Latavius Murray has fresh legs.  And, if they incorporate him more, (having displayed from the previous game his power) he should bring a spark to this porous offense that is in so desperate need of one.  It would be a suitable match-up against this Chiefs rush defense that is weak up the middle.  Punting will play a strong roll in field position in this low scoring affair, and the Raiders have the edge with King.  He'll be giving the Chiefs a longer field to travel.  More so than what they have seen all year.  

Another thing to note, it should be rowdy at the Colosseum, sold out crowd.

If I can remember, teams traveling cross country on TNF has a horrible record.  Leaning on Oak as well, just haven't pull the trigger yet. GL budd

They will make sure to lose the game by 14+ points or more

Carr is a fixer for the Raiders I'm surprised nobody has seen this

^Gavinnick, I never understood this whole fixing conspiracy nonsense. Quite honestly, I think that is ridiculous, looney, and just moronic. Sure, if the Raiders don't cover, I lose money, but it's not because they were fixing the game.

I also think you haven't been watching/following any of the Raiders contests because if you have, you'd know they are 5-5 ATS (if my memory serves me correct).

I agree that Oakland is in a ugly corner and have everything to gain and nothing to lose. So BOL on riding Pride angle BUT Kc has won 9 straight covers and Reid is 12-1 vs the line reg-season road with KC. I think Reid has them on point reminding them that they were 0-2 and now they are getting close to having a shot at their season goals. Just a thought GL

So what KC are playing Denver the week after. Why would they want to lose to Oakland the week before? They will need momentum going into the game and just getting by/losing against Oakland is definitely not the way to bring confidence into a huge game.

Backing in the Chiefs to cover -7.5. Best line I could get at my bookmaker.

@oldcoach63, thanks for sharing you points. The Chiefs are a hot commodity. The Raiders are not. I understand. But, they just need to cover in what is going to be a dog fight. The Raiders don't rollover even after making mistake, after mistake. Have you seen any of there games? If you have you would know what I'm talking about. The match-up doesn't indicate that the Chiefs are going to light them up. The Chiefs don't play that style of ball. They are conservative, disciplined, west coast offense. They don't take shots down the field. Charles is off a big game, and they would need another one from him, and generate turnovers to cover. Charles will not be a 100%. They are facing a solid run defense. And, if they generate turnovers, that's a situation the Raiders have faced before and reacted resiliently. I'll take my chances with the ugly, scrappy, dog.

On the same. Got friends going to the game. Crowd will be raucous...I forgot who wrote that Oakland has no home field advantage but they obviously have never seen how all their fans always show up. Playing for pride, fans too. It will be rocking at the coliseum.

Afterthoughts 
I'm happy for Raiders fans.  This was a hapless team who had a great victory against a topnotch club.  I think the Raiders found their quarterback and running back for years to come.  I'll follow closely and look forward to seeing what transpires.
