An old lady in front of me in the checkout line at the supermarket mentioned that trend to me two days ago.  Totally out of the blue.  She must have been 90 years old.  That's when I knew the trend didn't mean squat.

That's an exaggeration typical of Bears backers this week who seem to want to convince themselves that they're on the right side because a world full of lemmings is on the other side.  But it's just not so.  There are plenty of people interested in this home dog.  The evil oddsmakers put out a line to ensnare more than enough gamblers on the Chicago side, and it has.   

Never mind the money or the rivalry.......when has there ever been a road favorite in an AFC or NFC title game?  Does anyone know when this last happened?

Yep...I was at the game! Great game, VERY entertaining!

Anyhow, and the home dog there (the Cardinals) won the game straight up and went on to play the Steelers in the Super Bowl. Deja vu today???

The two visiting teams in today's championship games have been doing a bang-up job of making the home field advantage look irrelevant in the modern day NFL playoffs.  Here's how playoff home teams have done in the last few years:

2010 - 3-5 ATS so far

2009 - 6-4 ATS

2008 - 5-5 ATS

2007 - 3-7 ATS

2006 - 4-6 ATS

2005 - 4-6 ATS

2004 - 5-5 ATS

2003 - 3-7 ATS

That's 33-45 ATS.  So much for home field advantage in the playoffs in the 21st century.
