i agree wit Ilikedawgs. go watch something else if ur son is offended by this. i got a son too and we watch football all the time. ur son must not get out much or he better not be playing video games cuz thats the reason for all kid violence right. shit theres more violence on jersey shore then the nfl and i bet more kids are watching that shit.

if you turned the channel just because a couple of grown men playing a physical, emotional sport were throwing a few punches then you better put your kid in a plastic bubble & never let him out of the house. fighting is part of growing up & sometimes part of being an adult. there are always going to be times when you have to stand up for yourself or others & sometimes fighting is the way to go. inspite of what some politically correct, pretencious people may say fighting is not HORRIBLE!, OUTLANDISH! or UNCIVILIZED!
as long as your not a drunk idiot or bully that fights all the time & beats on your wife or kids it has it's useful purpose & place in society. i bet your one of those parents that thinks you shouldn't keep score during kids sporting events & that everyone should get a trophy because there are no winners & losers in life. better get a grip before your kid comes home crying without his lunch money every day.

In a way, I do think he should be suspended but I also kind of laugh because if this was hockey, all the players and refs would've sat back, watched and waited for the there to be a break in the fight to step in and break it up and other than 5 minute penalties, nobody would think twice about it after it was over. The fact that it heppened in the NFL, people are acting like someone got raped at midfield.

In Hockey fighting is tolerated, yes, but in my younger days I had a teammate who cracked a dude over the head w/ his hockey stick and the guy was kicked out for the season.
My point is there are "heat of the moment" things that are acceptable in most sports. The problem arises when you do something "outside" of the acceptable reactions. Punching a guy in the head after ripping off his helmet has never been acceptable. He should be suspended 1 game, and if the league has such a fucking problem w/ Finnegan then suspend him for excessive rule violations.
Last week Steelers players thought Seymour should be suspended for punching Ben w/ his helmet on.

I am sorry. This isn't the NBA. This is a man's sport. A hefty fine is sufficient. Courtland Finnegan got what he deserved. He is after all in the top 10 dirtiest players in the NFL voted on by his peers if I am not mistaken? He instigated that crap. And as for the guy changing the channel so his son can't see it, has your son ever seen a boxing match? Pro Wrestling? I doubt he would be scarred for life seeing a quick fight.

All of you people making fun of him for turning the channel when his kid were watching obviously dont have any kids... Its easy to be tough on the computer or talk shit on the computer and most the people talkin shit on the internet are the skinny, weak, dorky kids. Since when is football a violent sport??? It was a violent sport at one point, but welcome to 2010. He should of been suspended at least a game with another 7,500$ just like last year when he cheap shotted finnegan with illeagl block in the back and had to pay $7,500.

How do you know how old his son is? Do you think his son should get the picture in his head that when hes on the field and something doesnt go his way he can attack the person? Its not the point that hes gonna be "scared" watching a fight, they are sending the wrong message. Finnegan has been around for a while and is known to play dirty, but how come andre johnson is the first one to do this???

They got off with just a suspension because the Texans play on Thursday Night Football this week on NFL Network...
Why would Goodell suspend one of the best players on the Texans team, as it would surely hurt the TV ratings for the game, as it is the only game of the week on NFL's home network? Oh yah, he didn't suspend him.
He didn't suspend because knew of the consequences for Thursday nights game.
He didn't want to hurt the NFL Network's TV ratings for Thursday night games since the Texans are playing in it.

Finnegan got what he deserved. Supposedly right before the play Finnegan yelled towards the Titans bench "watch this" and if you watch the clip he definitely was instigating it. That might be 1 reason AJ wasn't suspended not to mention the door it could open if you send out a 3rd string safety to go pick a fight with the other teams star player. I'm surprised he wasn't suspended but am pretty happy with Goodells decision.
To the turn the channel guy I would suggest you just explain to your kid that sometimes grown men get angry and fight. You can tell him that it's not how you handle things but don't shelter him too much. He will be in for a rude awakening once he graduates from all his private schools
