Can Mahomes play on Sunday?

Can he? - yes

Should he? - no

All of this depends on what the team neurologist says and how he does with testing including his neurological exam. Repeat head trauma following a true concussion ( which I believe he had based on the way he was getting up and looked) is his highly undesirable and can lead to long term damage. But hey, what do I know? I’m just a doctor.

 why should he not play if he did not suffer a concussion???  He was choked out, go back and watch the replay.  He lost consciousness, doesn't mean he sustained a concussion.  This is not my opinion, it's fact and it is being reported by multiple outlets already.  Andy even said after the game he was fine and didn't have a concussion.  Jay Glazer said the same thing and that man knows a thing or two about choke holds...

He lost blood-flow to his brain for a few seconds. Gave him a huge head rush that's why he was dizzy and conscious after?

The tackler tucked his left arm around Mahomes' neck and cut off his blood flow and tugged on it strongly enough to drag his body along? 

The gambling industry would love to see all of the KC Superbowl future bets go up in smoke. I don't see Mahomes starting as a given...things are so shady and corrupt in our country and anything tied to big money is on the table for a scam IMO. I wouldn't put anything past the shady NFL. How much money is tied up in Buffalo winning it all?

It doesn't matter if he plays or not, there will be a new champion representing the AFC in Super Bowl 55! 

It's AFC Championship game and Chiefs are trying to repeat. Something that hasn't been done since Pats did it in 2004-2005. He will play!

yes but you also know that they wouldn't have put out a line to begin with if there was any serious risk of Mahomes not playing....they know.

It won’t be up to Mahomes. The Chiefs medical staff will be the first to clear Mahomes, but that decision will have to be reviewed and confirmed by an independent neurologist.

so, will have to wait. He did not look very good after the hit. I took the bills +4 last night. Gamble within a gamble

It is KC´s game to get to the big show and be one of the only few teams to ever win back to back. Taking that into consideration... 

1. KC´s owner wants Mahomes to play

2. Reid wants Mahomes to play. 

3. Mahomes wants to play. 

4. All his teammates want him to play. 

5. The League wants him to play. 

Concussion or not, the protocol will not be as strict as usual this week. That concussion protocol can be loopholed. HE WILL PLAY. THERE IS 0.05% CHANCE THAT HE DOES NOT PLAY, the same chance that Josh Allen has of getting Covid these days :)

And to all you guys saying he was choked and not concussed... Had that been the case, Mahomes would have come back. Of course he was concussed. I don´t care what the your favorite NFL gossip girl says. It is obvious that KC will try to bring out the news stating that it was not a concussion.

 I believe I'm the only one in the entire forum that called that tackle a dirty horse collar that wasn't called. The way the NFL protects the elite QBs made that non-call very surprising to me.

This league is about money so he will play to suck up all the $$$$$$$$$$. The hit is nothing that can cause a concussion. Those freaking kiddos just acted like he got a big hit.
