But you are completely ignoring the fact that the Cardinals would NEVER go for that last 2-pt conversion if they didn't have to. Your argument is nonsense!
The Panthers had just scored to go up 25 points... at this point, there are 3 scenario possibilities:
1) It stays 25 points, in which case Arizona needs 8+7+7+3 to tie the game (THEY ARE NOT TRYING TO WIN IT AT THAT POINT! Your mission is a TIE, to get it to over-time!)
2) Kick the XP, and make it 26 points, in which case Arizona needs 8+8+7+3 to TIE the game.
3) Get the 2-pt conversion, and make it 27 points, and now Arizona needs 8+8+8+3 to TIE the game.
All 3 scenarios require Arizona to score 3 TDs and 1 FG to TIE the game. You have not changed ANYTHING in the practical sense of time-management. At that point in the game, midway through the 4th quarter, as the coach of the team that is winning, you only care about your opponents ability to CATCH UP! And that means the decision to go for 2 is ALL ABOUT TIME! How many SCORES does the other team need to catch up?
If your decision does not change that at all, then your decision is a no-brainer: kick the XP 100% of the time! You do not ever go for 2, unless it changes the number and type of score the other team has to get to catch up! You do not care whether they are going for 1 or 2, when you make that decision.
Otherwise, according to your logic, if you score a TD to make it a 6-pt game, you should go for 2, because otherwise your opponent can score a TD and win it with a 2-pt conversion.
There is absolutely no difference between your logic and that logic! NONE!
You are so stupid it really baffles me someone can be that stupid and cant understand even the simplest things in life.
You are so retarded for comparing this situation to a situation where a game is tied, Team A scores a Touchdown and goes for a 2 pt because Team B would win the game if Team A scored extra point instead of a 2 pt and Team B decided to go for the 2 pt conversion instead.
The difference is, in that situation you would risk losing the game if you failed the 2pt conversion and the other team scored a touchdown, why on earth would you ever do that? Can you not see how stupid it is? Would Panthers potentially lose the game by going for a 2 pt conversion should they fail? NOPE, because it would still require Cardinals to score.
Your example is so flawed that its ridiculous, and you fail to see it because youre blatantly stupid. Let me give you an example that is 100% similar to the situation Panthers were in except they were the team ahead.
We have a Team A and a Team B.
1) The score is 0-0
2) Theres 5 minutes left of the game, Team A scores a touchdown and goes for the 2 point conversion (for whatever reason) and they succeed the pt conversion attempt grabbing the 8-0 lead.
3) Team B scores a touchdown with 1 minute left to play to make the score 8-6.
4) Should Team B go for a 2 point conversion? If the answer to this is YES then Panthers should ALSO go for the 2 pt conversion since Cardinals succeeded one as well, so that would be the only way to get the number back to a key number instead of it being a meaningless number.
Your whole argument is that it would require 4 scores from Cardinals, 3 touchdowns and a field goal anyway, that is 100% correct, but the only difference is if they failed the 2 pt conversion Cardinals would be able to WIN the game with 4 scores, that would be IMPOSSIBLE if they succeeded the 2 point conversion, then the best possible outcome is a TIE. So by NOT going for 2 pts you risk LOSING the game. By going for 2 youre GUARANTEED at least a tie. Its common sense unless youre absolutely braindead which i can tell you are. Its so simple and easy to understand if you had half a brain.
