He doesnt have that IT Factor, Surely even you as a diehard Dolphin fan can see that?
My thoughts on Tannehill are well documented and I'm sure people are sick of hearing them so will keep this very short.
In the last 2 years he had 10 opportunities to lead his team to tie or win in the last few minutes of the 4th Q. he is 7/10 in those opportunities.
4000 yards passing, 27 TDS in the air, one of (if not) the best running QB in the league. Completed 14 passes in a row 3 times, with a bad offensive line and average receiving core. His team was also near the top of the list in drops (can remember clearly 3-4 times his WR's dropped open TD passes)...Also tough as nails. 48/48 in starts even though he gets drilled every single game with over 100 sacks the last 2 season.
So no, I respectably disagree that he doesn't have the IT factor or is not the answer. ESPECIALLY considering the Dolphins QBs the last 15 years. The Dolphins GM's also agree with me because he will be getting a long term contract.

Tannehil is going to be a good qb, dunno if he can take it to the next level, but hes def better than the "category" hes listed by the topic, also, better than Dalton for sure.

1) brady - still the champ 2) rodgers - bad luck last season with the injury, expect a huge season next year again 3) luck - improving every year, crap offense around him but he'll make it work again 4) manning - falling off, may not have too much longer left at this level 5) wilson - unorthodox style of play makes it hard to compare with other qb, but he's every bit as effective and simply doesn't turn the ball over 6) romo - first season defense didn't let him down, uncertain contract situation with dez/demarco might affect his performance next year 7) brees - saints fell off a cliff last year, but they could bounce back next season with a new playbook 8) flacco - sandbags it in the regular season, but you don't want to run into him in the playoffs
tier 2
9) rivers - still can turn it on when you least expect him to, but he is getting turnover prone 10) roethlisberger - still a dangerous two-way threat 11) ryan - crappy season for the falcons, but still can contend next year if defense/rb spots are upgraded 12) stafford - megatron is good safety valve 13) newton - needs to open up the playbook for him to get back to the elite tier 14) dalton - can do enough to win 10 regular season games, still needs to prove he can win in the playoffs 15) kaepernick - same as newton 16) palmer - season cut short, but he's a pocket qb and his accuracy should still be there next season
too lazy to do rest, maybe tmr

This has to be the worst tiering of qb's i'e every seen. Eli, Wilson, and Flacco are elite. Bridgewater is ranked with guys like EJ Manual and and Case Keenum.

17) eli - still can throw up really bad games at the worst times, but new offense and obj could help his cause next year 18) tannehill - still not a real qb imo but does ok enough, though defense/running does most of the work 19) hoyer - can keep your team ahead, but may be too big of ask him to win you a game 20) carr - showed some promise last year in a bad situation 21) bridgewater - not really a dual threat, but has more potential than people think as a pocket qb 22) a. smith - at least doesn't turn the ball over 23) cutler - semi pass as bears had lost season, but put up or shut up time next year 24) glennon - has potential if bucs can stay healthy
serviceable vet qb: cassel, orton, henne, stanton, fitzpatrick
only direction is up: geno, lindley, gabbert, ponder, vick, mccown, sanchez

i just think the qb ahead of him can do the same or better with his team. i'd probably have a different ranking for leveon bell at rb or antonio brown at wr

QB A: 18 TDs, 3,127 yards, 12 INTS
QB B: 19 TDs, 3,369 yards, 10 INTs
QB C: 19 TDs, 3,398 yards, 17 INTs

QB A - Newton

Have some respect for Tannehill, the numbers speak for themselves. "Still not a QB and does good enough."....Uh yeah, by those numbers I'd say he does good enough

Please tell me that is only because he is a veteran and your giving his 1-10 record last year a pass.
Davis was better than a-lot of those QBs mentioned but his starts were few
Austin Davis has 2 good starts basically in his entire NFL Career. His best game was against the pitiful Eagles secondary in a game they were losing by 20 points the entire game, thus building his stats. McCown threw for 13 TDs and 1 INT two years ago

i rate lamar miller, knowshon moreno, and mike wallace highly and the fins' d VERY highly if that makes you feel any better.
honestly, 13-18 are all really close for me. the reason i put newton/kaep/dalton is because they've played at high levels in the past and just had relatively down years imo. if tannehill has another season like the one he did last year i'd move him up. but i also honestly think you have to have an innate understanding of x and o to be a truly great qb, and i haven't seen that from tannehill yet so far. we'll see what happens next season

Lamar Miller is very solid. Over 1,000 yards and 5.1 YPC. He just doesn't get the ball enough.

Raiders: If free agency goes well Randal
Cobb/Julius or draft at #4 WR, I believe Carr puts up big numbers this year. Carr
is a natural thrower, strong arm with a quick release. He’s athletic enough to get outside the
pocket and make big throws down the field. Most important factors: he’s smart, hard worker and an overachiever. Raiders
71.05 lead the league in TD Red Zone Scoring Percentage with no weapons on
offense.
Raiders scored Big Time with Carr

Reminds me of Rogers.

As we can clearly see, it's going to take a long time before Tannehill can come even remotely close to becoming an elite quarterback. Just no comparison.
Oh. Wait.........................
0
Pct Yds TDs Ints Rating
Tannehill 66.4 4,045 27 12 92.8
Flacco 62.1 3,986 27 12 91.0

Oh Wait ......Eli beat Brady twice in Super Bowls as a 12 pt dog and a 3 pt dog. Yet Eli is put in a Tier 2 group and Romo who has nothing to show for is in the Tier 1 group. I DON'T THINK SO. Eli forgot what Romo is trying to learn.

When Peyton passes Eli the sweet potatos for Thanksgiving dinner Peyton flashes his 1 ring but Eli has one on each hand. Sorry Peyton you get the hype, Eli gets the Bling.
