Chargers @ Titans

I'm looking ahead to the x-mas matchup between SD and Tenn and I can't believe the line in this game.  Before this line opened I was leaning towards Tenn, assuming they'd be a slight underdog playing at home in what will be a playoff atmosphere, but to my surprise I notice they opened as 4.5 faves and have quickly been bet down to -3.  I know SD is terrible against the run (#21) and Tenn is the second best rushing team, but that is still no reason to make them a 3 pt fave.  It's not like SD has nothing to play for.  They still need another win to clinch the number 2 seed.  Also, I don't see how Ten. is going to stop or even contain SD passing attack.  Tenn has the second worst passing defense giving up almost 265 a game, meanwhile, SD avgs over 268 a game passing.  And Ten. gives up big plays...They've given up 9 plays of over 40+ yards (18th) and 50 of 20+ yards (29th).  At the same time SD has loves the big play with twelve 40+ yard plays (5th) and fifty-seven 20+ yard plays(1st)!!! And it doesn't help that both Titan corners stand at 5'10" each, while each of SD two starting receivers stand at 6'5".  I believe the forecast for Nashville calls for ocassional showers, which will benefit Ten, but I still don't think this is enough to slow down the Bolts.  As much as I hate betting against Vince, I'm going with the Chargers....I believe this line will only go down.

Tenny wins this one, Chargers have pulled the last 2 games out of there asses, look for Johnson to have 140 plus aginst them. I like San Diego, but their time is up.

Tenn is the play guys

Looks like covers will be on Tenn in this spot. 

If the oddsmakers gave out a number such as Chargers -3, the public would have eaten up the home dog, playoff implication, Titans in this spot. So they throw the Chargers points instead, luring the public into "the better team, getting points". Tennessee is the right side in this football game.  

I truly believe this is a great spot for the Titans, and not so much for the Chargers. San Diego can afford to come out "flat" and I believe after ripping off 9 straight (vs quality teams), coupled with Denver losing at home to Oakland, they will indeed play a sloppy game.

The Titans on the otherhand, are coming off a season saving win over a very scrappy Miami team, in OT to boot. They have no time to think about it, or letting up, as they are right back in the same situation, vs another very good football team. One team has MUCH more to play for this Thurs, and that team happens to be playing at home aswell. Great spot for an underrated team.

Vince Young is the X-factor. The Chargers D is suspect. Chris Johnson will find many holes to run rampant. The Chargers have good speed on their defensive ends, however this is what offenses like the Titans feed off of. They'll allow the outside pressure to come and run the draw right passed them up the gut. Again, perfect opportunity for VInce to run the QB draw aswell. Titans will be 2nd and short and 3rd and short all game, and Vince converts those short yardage situations better than most. They will control the ball and the clock, and the Chargers D will be spending a lot of time on the field, on their heels.  Not a great situation when the 4th Q comes around, they're behind on the scoreboard, and find themselves chasing around the fastest back in football.

This is a throwaway game for the Chargers, with the Skins at Qualcomm on deck. Chargers finish 12-4, and make a nice run in the playoffs. But this Thursday is a terrible spot for an over-confident team, facing a very desperate team with their backs against a wall...not to mention 2000 miles away from home.

Like i said, they finish 12-4 with a loss @ Tenn, and win vs Wash. That locks up the bye and home-field vs anyone not named the Colts.

This is the definition of a throwaway game  . Picture Car-Minn from Sunday night. The Packers loss to the Steelers, is much like the Broncos loss to the Raiders, it seals the division for both the Vikes and Bolts. Look how flat and sloppy the Vikes played on the road on Sunday night . Same will happen in this spot. The Titans simply have MUCH more to play for, on their home field, with a team that matches up very well with the Chargers. The AFC West is arguably the worst division in football, while the AFC South is one of the strongest.

They are over-confident because they have just beaten a number of very good football teams, are playing at a very high calibre, and have now seen themselves lock up the division, as Denver slides further from the playoffs. Do they want this win? Of course they do. Do they need this win? No. Do the Titans need this win? Yes, they're season depends on it.

This has nothing to do with the calibre of football team the Chargers are. NOTHING. They are an elite squad

No matter how you swing it, the Chargers are in the perfect spot for a letdown, vs a very good, well coached, desperate, football team.  

AFC South on home field, with their season on the line, very good run game, excellent coaching, very disciplined vs AFC West on the East Coast, with nothing on the line, questionable coaching, bad run D. Like I said, it has NOTHING to do with the quality of the opponent for Tenn, this game is PURELY situational.
