How is this line only -4? Detriot is not a good team, they will be starting a 3rd string quarterback and are pretty dinged up and have struggled pretty bad this season.
The Bears are clicking on all cylinders right now, particularly Cutler, who is playing smarter and the Bears defense has been lights out recently. Bears fans always travel well to Detroit, and now that we're in first place plus NIU played in the MAC championship game last night (at Ford field) expect the crowd to be atleast 30-40% Bears fans and vocal.
Yes I'm a Bears fan, but I need someone to talk me out of making a very large play on the Bears. I just don't understand the line.

You know, I had the exact same question. Here's what sways in favor of the Lions:
In Stanton's only meaningful PT this season, he almost beat the NYG and was 19/34. Then again, the Giants screwed up a punt (one Lions TD) and Antrel Rolle decided to cover the cheerleaders instead of covering Calvin Johnson (another Lions' TD), so you can't really chalk up too much to Stanton's success. The Lions lost 28-20, and essentially get handed two pretty lucky TDs.
Detroit's at home.
Chicago gives up a ton of QB sacks. Detroit has a pretty solid D-line that obviously kept the game close in Week 1.
Nate Burleson guaranteed a win today or yesterday, for what it's worth.
Pino Tinaisamoa will not play for the Bears. Maybe he's the guy who's supposed to cover Pettigrew? I know from my fantasy stats that they really target Pettigrew, the TE.
BTW, the Lions' other good TE (Scheffler) is injured and won't play. Neither will Vanden Bosch, a good DE. Also, Jahvid Best is questionable, and he's a key weapon (I'm still not sold on his status, though.)
That being said, Matt Forte seems to have had a lot of success recently, although I can't honestly explain why. I like that, the Bears' D, and Stanton's status. So, I think I'm betting Bears moneyline. Already have 2 units on 'em at -3, and I'll likely add another 2 units at moneyline. Or maybe I'll talk myself into throwing more on that spread, cuz I'm a degen.

youre not missing anything, this is a no brainer game for the favorite. I see you said you are a bears fan, i'm a lions fan and a Michigan State fan (watched Stanton his whole college career). Bears SHOULD AND WILL win by two TDs. sometimes i think everybody overthinks these games....like Cris Carter say CMOOOOOOOOON MAAAAN take the bears.
i parlayed the points with the under. Someone wrote that stanton almost beat the giants. if you watched the game you woulda seen his TD to Calvin Johnson was a mis-timed int that resulted in a td...he stinks GO W THE BEARS... This is from a bears hater

what you're all not seeing is that the 3rd string quarterback for detroit is the best QB they have on their roster.
drew stanton will have a monster game tommorow, he will rush for 75+ yards and throw for 250+ yards, 2 TDs throwing, 1 TD rushing, and 1 interception.
Lions 31 Bears 24
Lions(ML) + Over(43)
drew is a great athlete, however this is a complete homer pick, LOL. drew was my QB in high school and we won 2 state championships together. however i really am betting on detroit moneyline and the over. drew is seriously a helluva athlete and will keep detroit in this game. on top of it factor in the is the super bowl for this year's lions club because they have nothing to play for, and because of the robbery in week 1. also detroit is one of the best teams in the NFL against the spread. only 1 loss ATS this season at home, and that was last week to the patriots. take detroit and even better take the over they are both easy wagers my friends...
