Could the Colts be the best team in the AFC?

Buffalo might be toast. Allen is injured and they may not make the playoffs if he is out for an extended period of time. 

Ravens have lots of injuries and now Jackson is hurt. 

Titans without Henry don’t scare anyone. 

Chiefs still look vulnerable despite beating bad teams. 

NE looks great, but with a rookie QB can they really get to the SB. 

At +1600 to win the AFC, the Colts look like a good bet. They have all the ingredients to get to the title game. Defense. Check. Offensive line. Check. Running game. Check. QB. Better than serviceable, but not great. Check. Coaching. Check. In the last 10 weeks, this team has lost 3 games, which they could have easily won. In OT to the Ravens, in a game they were in control of. In OT to the Titans, in another game they were in control of. In a shootout to Tampa. 

I can easily see this team playing the Chiefs in the AFC championship. If they beat NE this week, which I think they will, that +1600 will go down to +800 or less.

mac jones is a pocket passer.  if you want to beat new england, you have to get to mac jones.  his vulnerability in his rookie year is his inability to deal with being pressured.

Of course anyone can win the AFC. I’m talking about the best long shot value. The teams above the Colts are valued higher, but are not necessarily better. 

KC is +220. No value there. And a good run team like Indianapolis can keep the ball out of Mahomes hands and limit his opportunities. Colts know how to beat KC. They’ve done it before. The year KC won the SB. Colts beat them 19-13 in KC.

Why not take a flyer on the la chargers.  They won’t have home field for any playoff games which is actually a good thing since they don’t have any real fans.  If you wanted to grade playoff qbs in the AFC, I would only rate mahomes and a healthy Lamar Jackson over Herbert right now.  The coaching isn’t too shabby either.  LA chargers are just as live as the colts IMO.

It's a longshot but at +1600 who knows. If Mahomes and a couple more Chiefs get hurt it might win.

But at least we should acknowledge that the Chiefs are back. You say they are beating bad teams. Well they beat Cowboys, Packers, Broncos and a Raiders team that is 6-5 not playing Chiefs. Who is the bad team they beat again ?

They have given up 7,14,9,9 and 9 so 48 points last 5 games = 9.6 points per game against all teams with winning records. Chiefs just didn't care first 8 weeks, they will still be top seed and they are gonna win AFC again. 6 game winning streak and likely gonna win out. Colts will be wildcard and this if they win wildcard game will likely have to go to KC with Chiefs having a bye week. JMO

I bet Chiefs after they beat Dallas....Defense looked pretty good....6-1....

I remember that game well, was on KC big. Jacoby Brissett at the helm. The winner of that game was Reich. 38 to 22 TOP ball control. Colts kicked the crap out of KC. I absolutely love them next week vs Pats. 

The Colts are off a bye, at home, laying 1 vs the Pats who are on extra rest(off tnf). It's a Saturday game.

I suppose you make that +1600 bet if you think they can win this game. If not, make the bet following the loss for the odds should shift to +1700 or so.

I'd put them 2nd behind the Chiefs right now...

I agree completely. Tremendous value at +1600. They have all of the necessary ingredients. Their defense I believe has the most takeaways in the NFL. Losing Rhodes hurts badly though but they have the most important ingredient which is an incredible offensive and defensive line. The Chiefs are still mortal and although their defense is playing better, they are still severely undersized and got gashed in the beginning of the season versus the run. They will NOT stop Quinton Nelson blocking for Jonathan Taylor. Colts control clock and punish opposing defenses and their defense is a bend but don't break defense that consistently produces takeaways. This is a great winning recipe.

God I hope you're right!!  I have them at 24-1  to win it all...I'll hedge that if they make AFC championship game.

Oh and I need 3 more wins for them to hit the over total 9.5 wins....Not looking good there

Chiefs are rolling don’t even waste your money on colts.  Colts have loss some games in this stretch and they have been beating  cupcake teams in their division. Chiefs have knock off cowboys and packers in this run they are on  . Defense has done a 180 . 

Of the colts 7 wins, 5 have come against:

Miami - early season when they sucked

Hou -

SF - early season when they had injuries and stunk

NYJ -

Jax -

Buff - which is not as impressive a win as we once thought

Regardless of what everyone in this thread is saying, NE is a better team than Indy and has the edge at QB. Pats have the best point differential in the NFL, but somehow you guys are awarding this game to the Colts before it is even played?

I like this Colts team, but there's a good chance they play their 17th game without a realistic chance of making the playoffs.

Good point by Hugh, the Colts could lose vs Pats and Cards. Then +1600 means nothing.
