Jags..with 25 seconds left....wouldn't it make more sense to try for the TD so that if you get the onside kick you only need a FG and the clock wouldn't be that big of a factor? Nope....too much $ at stake...

No it wouldn't. You kick the fg in that situation then go for onside. If you get it. It's now a short field to get a td. With still some time.
If you go for it on 4th down and don't convert. You are now down two scores and 100% turn the ball over on downs.
But yeah believe whatever conspiracy theory you wants. That makes more sense as usual!

@undermysac
I just feel you try for the TD so that if you actually get the ball back you only have to get a couple first downs which the time will only allow...

@Ppkay
No need to be a douchebag..just frustrated on the cover...said nothing about a conspiracy theory bud...makes more sense in my mind to try and get a FG with under 20 seconds after an onside than a TD..but what everyone is saying also makes sense..

@MLMaverick
You have to looks at the clock. The Jags needed a td and fg to tie. The fg was at hand on 4th n 5, with 25 seconds left.
If they go for it, with no timeouts and get a first down, they are surely to burn up the rest of the clock

It’s actually incredibly stupid to kick the fg instead of shots into the end zone from closer. Anyone telling you otherwise is simply wrong. Statistics have nowhere near enough data to justify how moronic it is to kick a fg.

@Itsalockright
Of course you guys are saying that because you got backdoor covered on by MR. DOUG PETERSON!!
How does your rear-end feel getting back door plowed?

Strategy there is always go for the FG with no timeouts since they can kick the FG earlier and save as much time as they can. Take a shot and they don't get it, kick it to bring it down to a 1 score possession. If you go for it, then don't get it, well that absolutely kills the game. I forgot which bowl game, but one of the teams did this exactly and got it to OT.

I feel for ya, even with Mahomes going down for a good portion of the game, kc was still in it for the cover until late.

@jflydaddy
Actually yes I should have...it was a good bet....Mahomes getting injured in the 1st half of the first playoff game was low probability...

So what are you implying then?
If not for jags to cover since it was too much money on chiefs!
Sorry if I came off as a douche. It literally look like another post of being mad at a winning bet losing and conspiracy to get that backdoor cover.
When literally kicking the FG was the right decision there.

@tjohnsont35
Taking shots only takes a couple seconds at that range..30 yardline...
If you get the TD out if the way..and get the onside kick..you only need about 10 yards to try a FGand you can spike it..
If you kick the FG first...say you retrieve the onside kick...you'll be around the 40...then they just play deep prevent..all you have is a chance at a hail mary...if they give up 15-20 yards, they don't care bc the clock is ticking and you have no time outs..now you have to use time to spike it ect..
you give the offense less options leaving the TD for the end...
you always have a shot at a long feildgoal..

If it was me...when I tackle hard things in life I always want to get the hard part out of the way.Id rather be facing a long feild goal than a prevent defense hail mary...you also risk penalties..sacks..ect..
I'm just saying they were on the 30 yard line and this team literally just came back from 27 points down last game...plus momentum was in thier favor at that time as the offense was rolling...

I don't disagree with the logic. The issue is clock, no timeouts, and it was 4th down.
You only have one play to go for the td. Not multiple. Bcuz if you get a 1st down the clock going run off at least 10-15secs. And you still need to spike it since you got no timeouts.
If you don't get the td. You just turn the ball over on downs and no chance if even trying the onside.
