DK, don’t overreact to preseason. The Saints defense is going to be fine. They won’t be a top-10 unit but this is not what Sean Payton is asking for as their offense will be a nearly unstoppable machine again. NONE of their secondary starters saw significant snaps: Jairus Byrd (injury) and P.J. Williams didn’t play at all, Kenny Vaccaro, Keenan Lewis, Brandon Browner all got limited snaps. When Kyle Wilson, a guy who was buried on the depth chart from the Jets secondary last season, gets the most snaps, it’s logically they don’t look that good. Jamarca Sanford seems to be a solid backup.
I liked what I saw from their d-line and I believe their defense played pretty good against the Pats in the first half. Kikaha looks brilliant, nice pickup by the Saints. This defense was probably the worst in 2014 and they will have like 7 new starters.
