GB/Giants write-up......

First of all....Congrats to GB getting that division title back after being 4-6

Next, lets talk about Rodgers.  40TD and 7Int...with an average group of WRs....Nelson wasnt healthy until about week 8...Cobb missed a handful of games...Rodgers is the slowest tightend in football...Adams finally started playing well, and Cook finally came into his own at the end of the year.  

Keep in mind, he did all of this with NO running game....NONE!!!  Rodgers led the team in rushing until week 15....think about that!!  They had WR starting at Rb, fullbacks starting at RB....no run game at all....and still able to put up 40td and 7ints.  If they could only get 1 more threat on the outside, and a decent RB, you couldnt stop this offense.

The defense on the other hand...well, the last 7 weeks only allowing 17ppg...but they are in trouble.  They lose Shields their only good CB week 1, and now lose their #2, #3 and #4 CB again last night.  Just like 7-8 weeks ago, they have no secondary....playing practice squad guys and backup safeties covering WR's....


That takes me to this weekends game....

Obviously, being a GB homer, I would never bet against my team.  But, as someone who follows this team more than anybody....I would not bet GB to cover or win this weekend.   


First, its going to be cold...but thats not an advantage against NY...they are used to cold games.  

Second, I am not worried about GB scoring 20-24 points atleast.  Even against the NY D which is playing great....GB is on a roll, Rodgers has 18 TD 0 INT in his last 7....GB has scored 24 or more the last 10 weeks besides the snow-storm game against Houston.  

But, here is the problem.  NY is loaded at WR.  GB has no Shields and even if Randall is healthy, he isnt a #1 CB.  We cant cover Beckham, or any of their WR's for very long.  Currently, GB is without their top 4 cornerbacks.....who even has 5 and 6 corners?

The only good thing is NY cant run the ball.  GB line is good enough to stop the run with just 4 men...but GB has a poor pass rush.  Without pressure, GB is going to struggle stopping the pass...even only rushing 4.

If GB was healthy on D...I have them getting to the Superbowl....but they arent healthy, not even close.  You never like missing your #1 cornerback, let alone your 1-4 cornerbacks.  And now having to deal with the NY Widereceivers...


Good luck to those who bet this game...I obviously want GB to win....but if I bet GB games, I would def take the Gmen and the points, with a sprinkle on the ML....

please with the excuses...could you go 4-0 without Aaron Rodgers like NE did and with a 3rd string QB in one of those games that couldn't throw a forward pass if his life depended on it??

NE has had so many different players all over the field, so has KC, and others...

the thing that will kill you is your coaches inflexibility and conservativeness...when Lacey was healthy he never ran him hard, maybe that's why he got hurt-he never got in rythmn all season..
But your team is predictable and you don't adjust to your opponents or take chances...McCarthy has a poor record post season considering he's had the best QB in the league for 10 years...

Hello for me is very impressive the Level of Aaron Rodgers with a very average offensive Team

But at some point of the season running the ball with a WR, Injuries in all Secondary etc etc. Should Appears

The Giants Defense is the Best of NFL this season and they can win with the Defense and only One Good Drive of Eli Manning like Dallas SNF Game or with a Huge Game Of Eli....

The Wearther Homefield Advantage of Packers not exist againts the Giants if the Packers wants win they need at least 28-31 points againts Giants

Yes, every team has injuries....but until 3 weeks ago, GB was without their 1-3 Cornerbacks and is now without their 1-4 cornerbacks...

I am not an expert on NFL depth charts, but Im guessing Cornerback #5, #6, #7 arent very good players...

Injuries are one thing, but stopping NFL offenses without cornerbacks is very difficult 


As for Lacy, he is terrible even when healthy....Starks is above average but cant stay healthy....

Like I said, when your QB is your leading rusher into week 15...and yet still have 40TDs and 7int....pretty impressive...Look at all the other top QBs....Brady, Big Ben, Ryan...they have great running games

Is a complicated game for Green bay

The Game against Redskins shows that... I dont compare Rodgers with Cousins, but the skins have one of the most powerfull air atack in NFL. , Cousins have a better arms than rodgers and you Know the score of the Game

Thanks Pack1234. Made me think a little harder about this game. 

NYG getting more than 4 is always a pretty good bet. I think the only time they got blown out was by Minnesota and Pittsburgh. 

New York struggles on Offense immensely. I'm not sure if they can keep up even without the best corners. 

I'll now have to check which corners are available. If it is Randall available and Gunter I would still be comfortable with the Packers cover.

I dont know.  Randall is not even a #2 corner(he is on Gb), let alone a #1...plus if he plays he isnt healthy.  I know Giants dont light up the scoreboard, but GB is back to the defense depth they had in weeks 6-10 when they were giving up 30-40 a week...

Let me explain , Redskins have better WR than GB, Better RB than GB, and the offensive line are pretty similar

obviously , Rodgers is better than Cousins in all , but skinks have a Solid Air Atack

Letsgopack 1234, I found your insights to be very valuable to me and I did not realize their dire situation at the cornerback position. Thanks...where are Adderly and Jeter these days? 

Beckham and Cruz could do some damage...I just wonder why Eli seems so discombobulated at times out there? 

Amazing to me that a team can make the playoffs with such a poor rush offense. The Giants only average 88 yards a game on the ground and are ranked 29th just above 30th ranked Detroit...teams that can't run the ball are deeply flawed IMO.

I think this game comes down to the Giants offense and if it shows up. Yes, on paper, they have a solid group of WRs and some pretty good backs, but QB is erratic and the OL has been awful. 

Also, it was just reported that the NYG WRs have been in Miami partying since the game last night. While McAdoo says the guys are off work and its fine, it makes me question their motivation. You are going into one of the hardest stadiums to play a big game against a team that has proven it can win the big game, and you are partying? Makes me nervous. 

If GB gets any of their CBs back, give me them to win a tight game. I see this game being a FG difference. NYG +4 is my pick here, with the under

I've had to learn time and time again to not bet against teams that are heart. Begging for a letdown involves just too great of an unjustified risk. Giants (in the hope of a close game) or no play for me.

Yeah, they are def in bad shape.  Having an injury or two always happens to teams....but when your #1, #2, #3 and #4 at the same position all get hurt...that is very bad bad news!!!  GB is going to have backup safeties covering Beckham, Cruz and Sheppard....that is very bad news.  Unless we get a pash rush, which we havent had in the last few weeks....it could be a very long day!!  

The only thing that may help, like I said and you mentioned...is the struggle NY has to run.  THat willl allow GB to drop 6-7 back in coverage, but Im not sure that will be enough.

I think GB will have no problem putting up 24ish points....just not sure they can hold NY to less.

If that is true...I hope they keep partying all week ha ha!!

As for the game, yes the Giants OL isnt great, but neither is our pass rush.

I think Randall might play...but even when healthy he isnt good...When healthy I think Shields is one of the best corners in the league and GB never has to double on that side.  Even still, Randall gets beat play after play when Shields is out there.  WHen Randall has to cover the other teams best, it is not pretty.  

Like you said, I see this as a close game no doubt...and would def take the points.

Packers fan from waaaaay back...recently the Giants in the playoffs have beaten better Packers teams than this one.

I've taken the Giants plus the points, but certainly not overconfident, Eli looks like like a scared kid out there this year....throughout his career in the playoffs he seems to be a new man though....we'll see....should be an interesting game.

Much r spect for this post.  You are a packer homer yet point out all thei Flaws.  I love it.  I'm a die hard hawks fan but also am a realist and am trying to talk people down off their CAWK.   Too many injuries for Seattle.  But you told me that Detroit only beat ONE team with a winning record.  And to trail every 4Q?   Come on man.  Can't get that lucky week after week with ZERO run game.  but still cannot lay 8 with Seattle vs anybody.  They just aren't that good since Thomas broke his leg vs Carolina.  Besta luck whichever you play

If you play in the nfl, the depth chart doesnt matter that greatly if you are a number 1,2,3,4,5,6,7.  You are in the NFL because you are good.....

I havent always been able to do so, ha!  Its taken a few years to be able to talk flaws about my team ha ha!!

Yeah, Hawks are banged up too, and as you know when you lose the starters in the secondary it is much bigger than losing a Lineman/LB....Hawks do not look the same without Thomas back there.

That said...Seattle will be one of my biggest plays of the weekend.  I think Det is one of the worst team to ever make the playoffs.  Their record is a joke, thankful to an easy schedule.  They have a -12 point differential and have been losing in every 4th qtr...thats not a good team, its a very lucky team, and the teams they have been trailing are not good teams.  I think Seattle will beat them by 20+.

Really??  Can you name me 1 5th string Cornerback in the NFL?  Teams are lucky if they have 1 solid cornerback....very few have even two good cornerbacks.  GB is without their top 4.  They are going to have backup safeties covering Wr's....

No injuries hurt more on the defense than losing your secondary players....let alone 1-4 on the depth chart

Before we write off the packers, who are at home, with their QB (arguably) playing the BEST stretch of QBing I've see maybe ever, a newly found running game, let's wait to see who practices at the corner back position. The Giants arent exactly lighting up the league on offense ........as AROD would say .........everyone relax

Eli is 2-0 at Lambeau in playoffs.. Both times they had to go through Green Bay to win superbowls..

Once vs Favre once vs 15-1 Rodgers..

Once again Eli was a great defense backing him..

I think S Shepard is the key for the Giants. he should get 1 on 1 vs a weak Packers DB.. 

But I think the end of the day Rodgers will put up more points then ELI..  Packers have not been turning the ball over in last 6 games.. I think it 1..  Rodgers mobility in the pocket no matter how good the D-Line is will sustain drives for Packers..  he looked like Houdini vs the Lions..
