(and no trollers, I am not saying I base my picks or tails on just one angle). On this particular write up though, there isn't one angle that I just really like or one angle that catches my attention like yesterday with Ohio.
BUT, going back to last year in basketball, I have yet to take an L tailing you Scal. Thanks for the write up and I'll be taking the Giants today. BOL
If anything, I love the 27-26 result last year where the Giants went out of their way to lose in week 1. They literally gift-wrapped the game for them and that caused their entire season to spiral out of control in part.
This year, they have the extra pieces they need to win this division and they know (more because the competition is weaker and the Giants are stronger).
This is one of those games the Giants know, will once again dictate their season.
It's a strong psychological motivator especially with the rookies behind center on the offense.
When I talk about psychological angles, I don't like to give the impression that I am in the players' heads. I am not.
I am saying, given the familiarity I have with this team over 20+ years, I know how they will come out and respond against their biggest rival above. Dak and Elliot have nothing in this rivalry. They are just getting their feet wet. This is too much too soon for them IMO.
And for all their O-Line dominance, their D-Line right now is underwhelming if not ragged with all the suspensions. It's not that complicated a game plan today. Limit Ellliot in his first game ever and pressure Dak to perform. He has the pieces to work with on WR but if there is an interception or two, it won't take long for the Giants to take control of this game.
And anything out of RB Jennings for the Giants is gravy. I can't believe how weak their backfield is. But Eli will be pass-happy anyhow so it's not as big a factor as you think.
And I stress, WE DON'T BET ON THE following angle, but it is 9/11 and NY takes that more personally than others (I know, that's unwarranted but they do) and feel as though they are playing for the city (they have said these exact words over the years). So there will be some 9/11 pomp and circumstance before the game. That will put a little (and I stress, al little so guys here don't pile on me) pep in NY's step. Those little things adding up in the aggregate can put you over the top.
Not as strong as OHIO but a play nonetheless. Hope this helps.
