15-14 on the year (bad week but it happens)
Normally I wait to make my plays but tonite I'm not gonna overthink this one. The more I wait for this bet, the more I will probably overthink it. Simply put, I'm gonna focus on the public perception here. Could the Giants have played a worse game last week on prime time and could the Lions have played a better second half against a supposed good football team, Arizona? Two teams at opposite sides of the spectrums going into a prime time game here. Who you betting on? Detroit getting three points?! Gift?
OBJ playing tonite but he isn't 100%; nowhere close I bet but tonite he his presence may be just enough. He will keep the Detroit defense honest which will allow the running game and other weapons to get open tonite. If he's actually healthy, I think Detroit and a lot other teams have fits with their weapons. The o-line was awful for the Giants last week and I think with OBJ back, detroit has to be very careful with how they call their defense. You want to blitz Eli with Engram, OBJ, BMarsh and Shepherd out there? Good luck. You want to play nickel with two safeties high, the Giants will pound. I'm fully aware that the Giants have stunk the last 7 games they've played yet they are favorites by 3 at home huh? Hmmmmm. Again, what makes tonite different? Urgency, home field and yes, OBJ. In my eyes I don't think he needs to catch that many passes to be that difference. You have to know where he's at at all times and that counts.
As for Detroit, on the road, I'm thinking they will try and run the ball considering the secondary of the Giants. I like Stafford but if you pressure him he turns into favre. He will take risks for sure and I smell a big turnover in this one because of that. The d line of the Giants will ball out big time tonite. They will be chomping at the bit. Listen, I could be wrong here as I was this week in some plays but my gut tells me from what I saw last week by both teams, paired with the betting line and the love the public is showing Detroit, +3 seems like a sucker bet. The Giants looked like crap last week but with Philly and Dallas losing, they see this as an opportunity to be taken serious again tonite. Call me crazy but I think the Giants will be a playoff team. Don't talk to me about the o line issues because I've seen the patriots go to superbowls with 17 different o line configurations. Are the Giants and their weapons on the same level as the patriots with theirs when healthy? I think so. It's not there yet but to start 0-2, the Giants know they need to take care of the ball. If they do, the win with ease. Eli has burned me so many times in the past but tonite I'm riding with the guy. I'm riding with that defense as well when it counts most.
