He's the head coach of a terrible team that's trying to win back its home crowd by pulling a big upset and he kicks a 21-yard field goal on 4th and 1? 
 
 
Is a gutless 3 points that much better than running the risk of getting stuffed and leaving the Broncos on their own 3-yard line?  The answer is no.

Good call Bator. I couldn't bet on these heartless bums. It's only early but one team has yet to show up and the other looks like they want to kill somebody.

The FG's for TD's is pretty alaming though. Denver will need a lot to cover the 9.5.

The only thing I didn't absolutely love about this play on the Chiefs +9.5 is Herm Edwards.  His boys are going to have to do it in spite of him.

Being on the Chiefs +9.5 I do like the start of this game, but by no means will I ever feel good about it because of Herm

But the message sent is "We don't think we can manage this 1 yard."  Believe me, the reward of a 10-0 lead far outweighed the consequence of getting stuffed on 4th and 1.
